The Chanteperdrix Residence
Perks for the Parents
A peaceful retreat just outside Aix-en-Provence, with a private pool, tennis court and den for kids. It sleeps 11. The house has plenty of ‘hang-out’ areas, inside and out, so families can all have their own space to relax. Outside, there is a pizza oven, 2 large decks and a spacious pool area for all-day lounging in the sun. Parents will love retreating to the primary suite, which has a soaking tub and separate shower as well as a walk-in closet. The kids' rooms are downstairs with their own shower and WC and there’s even a separate guest apartment (for a nanny or grandparents) that can be reserved separately.
Why Kids Love it
This is a great space for families to spread out and it’s ideal for children aged 8+. It’s located on 1 acre so there is ample space for kids to roam around and explore outside. There’s also a private tennis court behind the house for budding players. For younger kids, there’s a playground in the pretty Parc du Val de L’Arc (a few minutes away by car) and plenty of green spaces in Aix-en-Provence.
Things to Know
Minimum stay: 7 nights (but check with host). Safety notes: entry to the house is on the second level and there are 3 sets of stairs in this house. The pool is closed for winter between December and April and is not gated. There is space for car parking and car rental is essential to explore the area.
About the Location
The villa is located 10-15 minutes’ drive outside Aix-en-Provence, in the quiet of the countryside, although it’s just a few minutes away from shops and essentials. Head out to the hills of Le Tholonet and Bibemus, where you’ll find picturesque hiking trails, caves, waterfalls and lakes to explore. Aix-en-Provence is a wonderful city to explore, with historic cathedrals, picturesque squares, theaters, parks and playgrounds. There’s also a train station here for access to the TER (10 minutes’ drive). The closest airport is Marseille (half an hour away).
Accommodation Details
The house has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, set over 3 floors. Entering the house on the second floor, you’ll find a primary suite with a kingsize bed and an ensuite bathroom and walk-in closet. This main level also includes an open living room/dining room with fireplace, kitchen, pantry/laundry room and guest WC. Upstairs, there is a loft bedroom/TV room with a single bed and an ensuite shower room. Downstairs, there are 3 double bedrooms plus a shower room. There is also a 1-bedroom guest suite with a double sofabed that can be made available on request.
Style Notes
Modern Bohemian. The house is bright and open, with a contemporary feel but a relaxed style that makes it welcoming for families. The bathrooms and kitchen are newly renovated and the floors are furnished with ceramic tiles so they are virtually kid-proof. Rustic textures and natural materials work well to soften a largely minimalist look. We love the unusual curved integrated kitchen, the architectural open pillars on the stairs and the sleek sophisticated bathrooms.

Aix-en-Provence , Provence
Cezanne, carousels and Provençal charm
With light and countryside that inspired the Impressionists, plus beautiful boutiques, vineyards and culture to excite anyone, Aix is one of the most desirable towns in Provence. Play in the gardens at the Pavilion de Vendome or ride the carousel plastered with pictures by Cezanne. Just outside the town there are plenty of parks to discover, along with a planetarium and the fantastic Fondation Vasarely, a op-art focused gallery with great family programming. Sandy beaches are an hour’s drive away, and the traditional delights of Provence, including weekly markets, work for all ages too.
