This sunny apartment on the third floor of an Albigensian Crusade-era duplex sleeps up to 4 plus baby. Its prime location at the foot of the majestic brick Sainte-Cécile Cathedral, the Covered Market, and the Toulouse-Lautrec Museum affords easy access to the meticulously preserved medieval Episcopal City of Albi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Inside, 13th century architecture combines seamlessly with modern design. Red brick walls and rustic exposed wooden beams contrast beautifully with polished hardwood floors, the gleaming red and black fully-equipped kitchen, mirrored accents, and fur rugs. Parents enjoy their own mezzanine bedroom with a skylight overlooking the living area, and children share a cozy nook below with two twin sofa beds and vaulted ceilings. Albi is brimming with unique regional museums and excellent restaurants. Visit the sculpture garden, enjoy a round at the nearby golf course, or take the kids on a gently wafting hot air balloon journey over the Tarn.

Art, architecture and street life

Known for the artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, as well as its medieval architecture, Albi is 85 km north of Toulouse. Meander traffic-free streets in the old town, take a glass bottomed boat along the River Tarn, and introduce kids to art. Street life is the great appeal here: walking over old bridges, peering skywards at the Gothic half-timber buildings and soaking up the food and music.
