Perks for the Parents

This traditional 19th Century townhouse above a fashion store in central Amsterdam is a stone’s throw from world-class museums and galleries and is well equipped for young children. We love the stunning, stylish rooms, roof garden and historic charm. At 300m from the city’s central museum square and less than a minute’s walk to the beautiful Vondelpark, with its open-air theatre and playground, the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum and the Stedelijk Museum, boasting contemporary art, the location can’t be bettered.

Why Kids Love it

The house is perfect for all ages but mostly kitted out for babies and toddlers, with charming toys including a play kitchen. All the stairs have stair gates and there is a Tripp Trapp chair for children to use. The nearby attractions are highly child-friendly; the Vondelpark has plenty of playgrounds and space to play and the museums have plenty to offer the kids. The area is highly walkable with or without a stroller, and making like a local and hiring bikes as a family is a fun way to see the city.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 days. The house is above a fashion store with its own entrance on the ground floor. There is a private roof terrace with BBQ, dining area and lounge sofa. It is secured for children but they should not be left unattended. The stairs are steep, as typical in Amsterdam, but have stair gates; there are stairs up to the entry. Car rental not recommended; trams, bikes and buses are the easiest way to get around.

About the Location

This residence is 300m from the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum and Stedelijk Museum in the Museum Quarter of Amsterdam. The Vondelpark is only a minute’s walk and there are many child-friendly cafés nearby. The house in the middle of the shopping streets P.C. We had a really pleasant stay in Amsterdam! The house was great for our group of six: grandparents, parents, and kids (ages 5 and 1.5). There were plenty of toys — and spaces to play, as well as enough room for us all to spread out. It was especially nice to have a proper crib, not a travel crib, for our youngest. The well-equipped house is beautiful and stylish, with lots of great light. The location is absolutely fantastic: a quick walk to museums, restaurants, a grocery store, and public transportation. We definitely would stay there again!

Nicki was a wonderful host and her home at Willemsparkweg was the perfect place for my family of 6. The home was clean and equipped with anything you might need. It is located in a lovely neighborhood with lots of options for families to dine. We loved being so close to the park and the museums and appreciated being just enough out of the chaos of the night life in the city. Nicki was responsible and accommodating and we would highly recommend her home! Thank you Nicki for a wonderful vacation!! Best, The Hogans

Our family of four had a lovely time here. Baby equipment was available for our six-month old including high chair, change mat and cot. The toys were a little too young for our six-year old but he loved his big bedroom with a view overlooking the street! The location is fabulous for families - near the parks and lots of cafes and restaurants, plus the main museums and Albert Heijn supermarket for supplies. It’s a short tram ride into the centre for Nemo and other attractions. Beware the steep, narrow Dutch staircases! Very typical of these lovely buildings but tricky for a buggy, small kids or anyone with mobility issues. Friendly and helpful hosts. Will hopefully come again!

Beautiful home in an incredible location! My 2yo and 4yo loved this house - lots of toys, well childproofed, filled with light, great kitchen and amenities. We could walk or take public transit everywhere, and everything we needed (groceries, restaurants, playgrounds) was within minutes. I'm so happy we decided to stay here, it really made our trip. Nicki left great recommendations for things to do nearby, and was responsive and easy to communicate with throughout our stay. If we're ever back in Amsterdam, I would absolutely stay here again.

We had such a lovely stay in this beautiful home! It's located in a nice neighborhood near Vondelpark and close to a variety of restaurants and museums. The kitchen was well-equipped and we enjoyed making several meals here too. The place felt large with its high ceilings and beautiful light. The family was very responsive when we had a question come up during our stay. We'd love to come back! Highly recommend.

We loved our stay on Willemsparkwg. The location was perfect - very close to the tram stop and also less than a ten minute walk the van Gogh museum and Rijksmuseum. Also really close to Vondel park. On the Saturday there was an amazing farmers market just around the corner where Jacob Obrechtstraat meets Johannes Verhulststraat. The house is just beautiful and stylish and the perfect place for relaxing once our son was in bed. Our son really enjoyed playing with the kitchen and duplo and carrying the cow around! He also loved having his own little dining table, too. They also have lots of lovely books and bath toys too. I would not hesitate to recommend staying there!

Our stay was perfect. The home was in immaculate condition when we arrived, Nicki went above and beyond to make sure all our questions were answered and was a most gracious host throughout. The home is set up perfectly for a family and our 3 children loved it. The location couldn’t be better: everything you need is within walking distance and the entire city is within 10 minutes by bike. Highly recommended.

A beautiful apartment with everything we needed for our 14-month old! The location was perfect too -- just a couple minutes walk to Museumplein, but out of the tourist bustle. Nicki was very easy and pleasant to communicate with.

We absolutely loved Nicki's home. She was a very responsive hostess and everything was so smooth! This apartment was in a fantastic location and was quiet, safe, and comfortable. We loved how light and bright it was and the toys kept our 14 mos old busy while we were able to relax and enjoy. We LOVED her restaurant recommendations, especially Le 4 Stagioni----so kid friendly, we ate their two times! We also walked to bakeries, coffee, bagels, and right to the Vodelpark in 2 minutes. You're also really close to the Van Gogh museum, the I AMsterdam sign, trams, and a grocery store (less than 1/2 mile away). We had everything....nice beds, laundry, high chair, toys, crib, etc....she also greeted us with a bottle of wine and a Dutch treat. She did a fantastic job! I have ZERO complaints and we thought Amsterdam was the coolest city! We traveled with a 9 y/o, 8 y/o and 14 mos old and had plenty to do for the week! Loved it all. Thanks Nicki!

Perfect family apartment! The house was just perfect for us with our two young children. They have many toys it is secure for young children and the neighborhood is really nice because of the park next to the house. Since it is a typical Amsterdam house it has three stories and the stairs a very high but everything is safe for the children! I can really recommend this house and would always stay there again! Thank you for having us in your house!

This is an absolutely beautiful home, half a block from Vondelpark. It's in a quieter area of Amsterdam but has plenty of cafes, shopping, and restaurants. It's an easy walk to the museums and the trolley stop was very close for our visit to the zoo. Nicki was a great host and provided great recommendations along with a map. The home was very spacious and clean. It had the beautiful charm of an older building but had a totally modern kitchen and bathrooms. It overlooks this gorgeous garden and my husband and I sat enjoying the peaceful scenery and wine while the kids watched a movie before bed. We absolutely loved our stay here and if we are ever lucky enough to visit Amsterdam again, I would absolutely book this home again.
