With 7 bedrooms, 3 of which have ensuite bathrooms, and a sweeping set-up connected by glass corridors and courtyards, the villa offers roomy living for families who enjoy extra space or for 2 large groups. Lazy days and evenings in are made easy with a generous galley kitchen and sophisticated inside and alfresco dining options. Though with the Lisbon coast and its world class surf and seafood restaurants on the doorstep, guests have lots of options if they prefer to dine out.

Kids will love the glass maze set-up of this spacious villa with roomy corridors, concealed doors, a cosy bunk room and connecting courtyards to explore. With not 1 but 2 private pools outside – 1 with a stony beach style bank – kids can splash around and play as much as they like, with chill out seating close by for adults keeping an eye. The grounds are fully fenced so parents can relax and let the kids run free in the garden spaces while inside the cinematic open-plan living areas lend themselves to downtime with plenty of bright beanbags and fun furnishings along with satellite TV. There’s a barbecue provided for post-swim lunches and laid back evenings while for teens seeking independence, the local village and beaches are walking distance away. The beautiful local beach of Ribeira d’Ilhas is large and sandy with lots of room for little ones to play while offering those into surfing or bodyboarding an ideal place to practice.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. There is a €2000 security deposit charged to the guest’s credit card before arrival and refunded 2 weeks after departure, subject to full inspection. There is a cleaning charge of €350 to be paid locally. The local tourist tax is included in the rental. Please note that the pools are ungated so younger children should be supervised around them. There is also a working fireplace which little ones should be supervised around when lit. There is WiFi available throughout the property. A barbecue, washing machine and ironing facilities are included. Car hire is not essential but recommended for guests wishing to explore the wider coast; there is private parking on-site. The host’s concierge team can help arrange a pre-arrival fridge stock, in-house chefs/catering, babysitting/childcare services, airport transfers upon request.

About the Location

The villa is located in the village of Santa Isidoro, nestled in the hills of the beautiful Estremadura region in the north of Portugal. The local village shop and restaurant are a short walk away while the nearest beach Ribeira d’Ilhas is 1km away, also easily accessible on foot and well-loved for its sandy beach and surf. The seaside resort of Ericeira, the ‘World Surf Reserve’ is a 10 minute drive from the villa and has some spectacular sandy beaches, ideal for surfing and watersports. The old town, perched on a cliffside has a good offering of bars, restaurants and terraces from which to soak in the views. For those into hiking, the trails of the Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais are a 17 minute drive away where guests can also find some of the coast’s best beaches. Lisbon is a 45 minute drive away and is well worth a visit, packed full of charming bars, cafes and a thriving foodie scene. The nearest golf course can be found at the Estoril Golf Club, a 47 minute drive away while the nearest tennis courts (Moinhos do Mar Tennis Club) are a short 8 minute car journey. Lisbon airport is a 36-minute drive.

Accommodation Details

This property has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms set over 2 floors. On the ground floor, guests will find the main living areas including a large living room with modern, comfortable seating, satellite TV and access to the patio. It connects to the open-plan dining area which has a dining table for 10, a working fireplace and a huge picture window which opens onto the patio. There is a breakfast bar with seating for 2 for those wanting to enjoy a laid-back breakfast with a view, and a small kitchenette behind. The main fully-equipped galley-style kitchen is accessed via a door from the dining area and has additional seating for 2-3 as well as direct patio access. Along the corridor on this floor, guests will find 1 bedroom with doublesize bed, ensuite shower and access to the patio and 1 bedroom with a bunk bed and patio access. There is also a family bathroom and additional guest toilet. Upstairs are the remaining 5 bedrooms: 1 with 2 single beds, ensuite and terrace access; 1 with doublesize bed, ensuite and terrace access; 1 with doublezize bed and terrace access; 1 with a doublesize bed and 1 with a single bed. There is an additional shared shower room. Outside guests will find the large patio and garden area with 2 private swimming pools (1 infinity style), an outdoor shower, various sun loungers, a covered terrace, alfresco dining and a barbecue.
