Perks for the Parents

This luxurious beachfront house on an endless beach near Una is a real find and is set up for adventurous families wanting to get away from it all. It has 4 suites split between 2 houses - a main house and a master suite bungalow - with tropical Atlantic rainforest rich in wildlife and exotic birds around it. The main house has a veranda with sea views. There is a private lounge area on the beach with an outdoor shower and colorful sofas. The villa is fully staffed with 2 housekeepers, a cook, a private night guard security and daily maid. Additional professional cooks, babysitters, and maids can be provided for an extra cost on request.

Why Kids Love it

With tropical gardens all around it, exotic birds to watch and a long sandy beach to play on, this is a dream destination for children. The beach is gently shelving and is great for kids. Two of the bedrooms is set up with twin beds, ideal for children. Nearby activities include jungle trekking, walks on high wire paths in the jungle at Ecoparque de Una, and monkey spotting in the rainforest. Private guided tours of Ecoparque de Una nature reserve are also possible. There are few issues for children - the properties are on one level, bar some steps from the garden to the veranda - but note that this is a remote and relatively hard to access property: guests should bring toys and games with them.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week. There are no major towns nearby and little by way of bars and restaurants in the vicinity. The staff speak Portuguese; English-speaking staff can be arranged but they would have to sleep in one of the bedrooms of the main house. All bedrooms have air conditioning and private veranda access. Mosquito nets provided. The daily maid can also do laundry. Pre-arrival grocery shopping available for a fee and highly recommended due to the remote location. High chairs and cribs can be arranged. Car hire is essential if you plan to do more than relax at the property and enjoy the beach.

About the Location

Near the small town of Una and around 25 miles south of Ilhéus, this beachfront property is in a quiet, beautiful area of Brazil with a pristine beach and natural attractions. It is on a 4 ha oceanfront plot in the Una Biosphere reserve. Ilhéus is the closest airport, served by daily flights from Salvador and São Paulo. Private transfers with trusted drivers can be arranged from Ilhéus airport (30 minutes away by car). There is little by way of nearby nightlife, bars or restaurants, but what it lacks in evening entertainment is made up for in beaches, natural beauty and cultural heritage.

Accommodation Details

This 800sqm property is set over 2 buildings, with 2 suites in each. The main house has a living room, dining room, professional kitchen and 2 separate mezzanines. There are 3 double ensuite bedrooms, 2 with twin beds and 1 with a queensize double bed. It is surrounded by verandahs with outdoor living/dining areas and ocean views. The master suite bungalow is 50m from the main house and has a large bedroom with kingsize bed, sitting room, dressing room and bathroom. It has a beachfront deck with shower and a large daybed.

Style Notes

Luxury beach house. The residence is full of light, air and natural colors, with wood decking and a 12m thatched ceiling. The views of the beach and ocean are stunning. Bamboo chairs, carved wood cabinets and local textiles add color and culture. Rooms are very spacious with minimal furnishings. We love the main living space in the main house, full of bright cushions, carved wooden ornamentation and comfortable sofas, and the luxurious beachside lounge, with turquoise-colored cushions along the ocean-facing sofa.

Bahia, Brazil

Brazil’s most glamorous beaches

In a country known for its beauty (and its beauties), Bahia is the most gorgeous spot of all. Known as the most glamorous state in the country, it’s where the locals go for their holidays, seeking out candy-colored cottages hung with hammocks just steps from the perfect sea. The coastline here is diverse, with surf villages, trendy towns and wild empty bays backed by rainforests and you’ll find anything from upmarket restaurants with extensive wine lists to beach shacks serving fresh fish baked in leaves along its extensive coast. The best thing of all? Kids are the all-access pass you need to make the most of the country, welcomed everywhere and included in everything.
