Perks for the Parents

This staffed villa in the remote north of Bali has ocean and paddy field views, and a private chef. One of a trio of beach houses on the same grounds, it is set away from the main tourist resorts in the south and it offers an adventurous take on the island - tourist-centered it is not. Parents can enjoy the scenery and its rustic nature with a private cook, housekeeping and laundry included. Staff can babysit. The terrace overlooking the pool, gardens, Bali Sea and sunset is the location for dinner; around the beach house there are small terraces and a shaded gazebo close to the sea.

Why Kids Love it

Kids love the swimming pool and the beaches nearby. The fruits in the garden (bananas, mango, pineapples, etc), the small animals like geckos, the Indonesian meals prepared by 'your' cook - all of these items delight children. In the early morning, at sunrise, a small boat can pick you up from the beach to take you on a dolphin safari. Kids can also meet the local children from the fisherman village on the beach, see their school, their houses, small shop/warung and their day-to-day life; they can also play table tennis with the other guests in the estate in the garden. Note that the nearest beach is a bit seaweedy - you can swim and snorkel off the small reef in the Bali Sea, right in front of the beach house, and see tropical fish and coral.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. The property has no stairs, and is all on 1 level. The house shares the gardens with 2 other beach houses and the entire estate is surrounded by a fence. The pool is not gated. Young children may need to be supervised on the terrace and around the pool area. Staff available 24/7. Tours available by the estate’s driver. Bathrooms are rustic (read: there may be bugs), outside and with florescent lighting and no toiletries. The beach house has an exclusive beach cleaner who cleans the beach 5 times a week; at the start of the rainy season (November) the beaches in the area can be dirty otherwise.

About the Location

The residence is on the coast in the far north of Bali, close to the town of Bubunan. It is approximately 70 miles from Denpasar Airport, resulting in a long, dramatic 3-4 hour south-north ride full of hairpin turns to reach it. Seririt Village is 2 miles away, and has a supermarket with western products, many small shops, a day and night market and a medical centre. Lovina, a low key beach resort town, is a 30-minute drive away. It is a quiet and relaxed area of Bali with amenities nearby. Transport from/to airport or any other destination in Bali can be arranged by licensed car, with licensed drivers. Arrange in advance and confirm the type of car you need (with air conditioning) beforehand.

Accommodation Details

This 4-bedroom 1-floor beach house has a large living area and shaded terrace overlooking the tropical garden, the private pool and the Bali Sea. Each bedroom sleeps 2 and is air conditioned, with an ensuite bathroom. There is a fully equipped kitchen, the domain of your private cook (and/or yourself if you want). Bathrooms include tubs and showers and are outside. The house has a private swimming pool set in a tropical garden. The garden ends at the Umeanyar Beach.

Style Notes

Balinese beach house. The residence is built in rustic Balinese style, with natural materials and colors paired with all modern comforts. The big terrace is directed west, so every evening you will see stunning sunsets and the contours of East Java in the distance. The gazebo provides a relaxing place during the day and evening: listening to the calm sea and looking at the small fishermen boats in the Bali Sea. We love the rustic charm, simple pleasures and tropical gardens.

Hi, I am Rolf. Julia and I have three children, who are now in their twenties. For years we spent holidays with other families. It was always quite a challenge to find a proper place for both children and parents. On holidays in our beloved Bali, we were three families then, we bought a beautiful plot of land on the beach in the authentic north part of Bali. We took 2 years to make plans and build our 3 comfy beachhouses. Since 2011 we love to stay there ourselves and we rent the villas to guests from all over the world. Families, honeymooners, friends together all enjoy the North Bali atmosphere, the luxury villas with private cook and private pool, on the beach in North Bali.

Paradise island

This tropical paradise isn’t just for backpackers and honeymooners: imagine what fun your kids could have playing on the beach, spotting colorful birds and jungle bugs in the Balinese jungle and riding elephants on safari. There’s always the beach - great for sandcastles and even better for surfing, if they’re old enough. Browse art and eat in local cafes in Ubud, the center of the island, and pick your way carefully around the floral offerings. Sybaritic treats come in the form of those famous spas, private yoga and meditation lessons and time well spent together.
