Perks for the Parents

This period villa is uniquely located in a park in the heart of the city, a short metro ride from Barcelona’s attractions, with forest and wildlife all around. In the midst of the Collserola Nature Reserve, known as the lungs of the city, this beautiful 1930s house is set in typically Mediterranean woodlands with terraces. Wild boars, lots of birds, fresh air and space make it a great place to stay. It is a 3-minute walk to the metro, which then takes 7 minutes to reach the center of the. The Belladona Residence is a poetic house with plenty for children to do. Enjoy the Tibidabo Park, a nice walk from the house, the Patronada de Collserola, the monastery of Sant Cugat and Pantano, a great park to run and play in, all nearby.

Why Kids Love it

The house has plenty of books and space to play. It is a short walk from a playground with walking routes in the forest and there is a lovely patio around the house with views and room to play. Kids can play outside and be as loud as they like - they can make houses in the back and play in the forest. A gate can be closed to keep younger children in the patio around the house, or older children can go explore. In the summer, a paddling pool can be put up for babies. A crib, high chair, baby toys and a baby bath can be provided on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 days outside high season, longer during the summer months. The house has ungated stairs and there are some steps to reach to the house as it is on a hill. Terraces have a low wall - younger children who love to climb will need supervision. The bunkbed room opens direct to the upper terrace. The house is surrounded by forest; the back yard can be gated. There is plentiful parking nearby. Car rental not essential: the metro is 3 minutes' walk from the house and in 10 minutes you can be in Plaza Catalunya.

About the Location

The residence is in the Collserola Nature Reserve just under 10 miles to the north of central Barcelona. It is in zone 1 of the metro line that runs to all the key districts and areas of the city. It is a unique place to stay with the city and its architecture and sights under 10 minutes away, yet surrounded by forest and wildlife. The nearest supermarket is 5 minutes' walk away, and a larger supermarket is a 10-minute drive away. There are some lovely cafes in the forest nearby. Barcelona airport is a 20-minute drive away while beaches are a 30-minute drive or less.

Accommodation Details

This period villa is set over 2 floors and includes 3 bedrooms, a small studio, a bathroom and a terrace on the upper floor. One bedroom has bunk beds, another has 2 twin beds while the third has a queensize bed. On the lower floor there is an office/bedroom with a sofa bed, plus an ensuite shower room, and an open plan kitchen-dining room. A spacious garden terrace surrounds the house with spots in which to relax and read, chat, play table tennis or have a barbecue.

Style Notes

Catalan modernism meets classic 1930s style. The house is bright and combines catalan modernism with minimalist and recycled items. The beautiful forest views add a layer of peace to a stay with kids. The house was meticulously restored to retain a historic character. We love the spacious and comfortable bedrooms, the well set up eat-in kitchen with modern cabinets and stainless steel appliances, and the terraces with views over the green forest and beyond.

I love to travel. I prefer to go to places where I can enjoy the nature and the city at the same time. My kid love music and to do hoses with leaves and wood in the forest.

Barcelona, Spain

Sunshine, sand and sculpture parks

The city that Gaudí built has sunshine, sandy beaches and sculpture parks to explore as a family, as well as a culture that embraces children. It’s a great place to stay if you can’t decide on a beach holiday or a city break – Barcelona has both, along with cobbled streets, castles, the football mecca of Camp Nou and the famous Ramblas. Food features heavily in any Spanish trip and Barcelona is no exception – be sure to get the kids to try paella, tapas and local chocolate, and introduce them to the delights of Spanish culture via Park Güell, and paintings by Dalí and Miró.
