Perks for the Parents

This cozy and charming 2-bedroom apartment, 6 miles from the city of Bath, is a lovely home from home, with green valleys nearby to walk, and family activities a short drive away. Thoughtfully put together, it has luxury appeal and a countryside setting, with plenty to discover a short drive away. After a walk in the woods, the snug lounge is ideal for games, reading and relaxing. Pets are welcome. The spacious kitchen and dining area work well for family meals, especially if you stock up at the local farmer’s markets and find the best of North Somerset’s produce. In under an hour’s drive you could be in Bath, Bristol, Frome, Wells, Glastonbury or at the coast in Clevedon.

Why Kids Love it

This cozy property is in a great location for a family getaway, with rolling hills nearby ideal for family walks. In particular, we’d recommend the Bath Skyline walk, where you have great views of the beautiful city along with wildlife spotting opportunities (pack your Hunter wellies), and flying a kite from the top of Glastonbury Tor, under an hour away. The second bedroom has a double bed and ensuite bathroom with a bath and overhead shower; it is ideal for kids and is filled with children’s books and toys on a family stay. Bath itself is a short drive away and has all manner of attractions to entertain children, from toy shops and a children’s theater to entertaining walking tours, a swimming pool, the Roman Baths and, for older kids, the Thermae Bath Spa.

About the Location

The residence is in Carlingcott, a quiet village just on the outskirts of the city of Bath in North Somerset. It takes approximately 17 minutes to drive to the city. Bath is the best known local attraction, with museums, beautiful streets, Georgian architecture, theater and shopping, not to mention its famous spas, but there is much to do beyond it too. Frome, around 20 minutes’ drive away, has a wonderful weekly market up and down its hilly streets, while Bristol, around 50 minutes away by car, is a lively city with culture, family museums, food and more to experience. The nearest airport is Bristol airport, 45 minutes away.

Modern living. The Parlour is newly refurbished with luxury fittings and lots of lovely vintage finds designed to create a home from home. The snug is cozy, while the kitchen has underfloor heating to keep your toes toasty during winter and is lovely and bright during summer. Bedrooms are set up with 1500 pocket sprung mattresses, Hungarian goose down duvet and linen bedding for an exceptional night’s sleep. We love the countryside location with the city a short drive away, and the thoughtful provisions for family guests.

Bath, North Somerset

Roman baths and country parks

Bath is one of England's most glorious small cities, and ideal for a visit with kids. Stroll streets of honey-colored stone buildings, browse boutiques and farmer's markets and play in the huge playgrounds of Victoria Park. The Egg Theater puts on spectacular shows just for the kids, while a trip to the Roman Baths - where locals swam up until the 1970s - is likely to be a high point of any trip. Add to that afternoon tea with scones and jam, and a trip to the Thermae Bath Spa (over 12s only), and you'll have a perfect stay in the city.
