Perks for the Parents

A riverside apartment opposite Chelsea Harbor, with spacious bedrooms and a private parking space. It sleeps 6. This family-friendly home is the perfect base for a stay in London: there’s a full kitchen for at-home dining as well as multiple eateries nearby, plus luxurious stylish interiors to return home to after busy days exploring or working in the city. Hop over Battersea Bridge to enjoy the world-class restaurants, shopping and boutiques of Kings Road, or explore the flourishing local neighborhood on the south side of the river: foodies will relish Lavender Hill and the nearby Northcote Road Market dating back to the 1860s, where you’ll find a mix of deli goods, cheeses and fresh fruit and vegetables, alongside artisanal flowers, antiques, and original art.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love watching the boats go up and down the river from the balcony, and there are miles of safe, car-free waterfront pathways for easy walks or scooting. There is a newly-renovated local playground directly across the road, which can be seen from the primary bedroom window, as well as a free tennis court. Head up to the beautiful Battersea Park (20 minutes on foot) where there is a petting zoo, boating lake, huge adventure playground and Go Ape treetop climbing trail. A crib, high chair and a baby bath can be provided on request, although the apartment has a fairly grown-up feel, so it may be better suited to older kids or teens.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights; 5 nights at Christmas. There is a private gated parking space below the apartment and free visitor parking outside the front of the property. Bus and train routes are nearby and Ubers are readily available. The apartment is safe and secure on the 3rd floor with keyed entry, an elevator and easy no-step access for pushchairs, direct from the car park to the apartment by elevator. The building has 8 floors in total. There are lockable windows to all rooms and lockable French doors onto the terrace, which is walled.

About the Location

The building overlooks Chelsea Harbor on the south side of the river in Battersea. It's a 3-minute walk to the restaurants, cafes and shops of charming Battersea Square and only 20 minutes’ walk (or a short bus ride) from the Kings Road or the Chelsea embankment. Battersea has undergone a huge regeneration in the last decade, including the transformation of the iconic Battersea Power Station into a bustling riverside quarter packed with bars, restaurants, independent boutiques and luxury fitness spots. Clapham Junction station provides overground access into the city, to Brighton or to Gatwick airport (15 minutes’ walk). Heathrow airport is 45 minutes’ drive.

Accommodation Details

This luxurious apartment has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, all set over 1 floor. The open plan living/dining space boasts a large seating area, dining table for 6 and kitchen with a breakfast bar for 2. The primary bedroom features a kingsize bed and an ensuite bathroom; the second bedroom has a kingsize bed and the final bedroom has a double bed. The covered terrace has a heater to enjoy all year round. The family bathroom boasts a soaking tub, jacuzzi and TV above - a great treat for little ones! There’s also a separate utility room with washing machine, dryer and sink, which is ideal for kids after trips to the park.

Style Notes

Waterfront oasis. Sunny, bright, modern and sophisticated, the biggest draw here is the direct views over the River Thames. The hosts have chosen lots of colorful art and decorations from around the world to create a beautifully-curated space, together with sleek design touches in every room and fitted closets and storage throughout. We love the glistening mirrored splash back in the kitchen, adding even more light to the living space, as well as the spa-like walk-in shower and the multi-aspect windows in the dining area.

Battersea, London

Thames walks and park strolls

South of the river, but only just, family-friendly Battersea is known for its power station - a major local landmark - and its excellent park, home to a mini zoo, boating lake and duck pond. Lavender Hill and Clapham Junction nearby have great pubs and cafés and just across the Thames are the chi-chi areas of Chelsea and Pimlico. It’s well connected by train and bus to the city at large.

We loved our stay at Claire's flat in Battersea. It was very bright and clean and safe with amazing view over the Thames. It was a few minutes walking from Battersea Square with a Gails and other local restaurants, and across the street from a sweet park and tennis courts. We walked to Battersea Park in about 20 minutes which is one of the best parks in London. The boys rented bikes and rode to Battersea Power Station which is a great new shopping and commercial hub with restaurants and play areas for the kids.
