Perks for the Parents

This beautiful Brownstone duplex has plenty of space for the whole family and items for younger children to make travel to the city with them a whole lot easier. With a lovely back yard and design-conscious rooms (lots of white, comfortable designer furniture, unique and inspiring art work), along with a large fully family-friendly kitchen, it’s easy to enjoy the up-and-coming neighborhood, travel in and around Manhattan and enjoy this light, bright and friendly space.

Why Kids Love it

This is a great home for kids at all ages with toys and books to play with. There is a toddler room with lots of toys and another play area downstairs with more toys. There is a lovely patio and garden with bikes, and a kids pool. There are many parks walking distance and one of the best children's museums in NYC, the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, is a 5 minute drive, or 15 minute walk from the residence.

Things to Know

There are steep stairs but there are stair gates at the top and bottom of them, as well as for the patio stair leading to the garden. On the first and second floors of the building. There is space to play and run inside and out. Parking is very easy on the street and is free; car hire is not essential but could be useful. There is good provision for younger kids with a Pack’n’Play, high chairs and boosters and other baby gear provided. An air bed can be added. There is no TV.

About the Location

The residence is on a quiet, tree-lined block of Bedstuy, Brooklyn's latest chic neighborhood. There is a strong sense of community and many families with little kids moving into the neighborhood, plus a few lovely restaurants and cafés. It is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in Brooklyn, with brownstones from 1800s. It is 5-7 minutes from major subways J, Z, A, C lines. JFK and La Guardia airports are around 30 minutes’ drive away.

Accommodation Details

This 3-bedroom duplex in a mid-19th century brownstone has an open-plan first floor with a large living room, an open kitchen and a bathroom. Stairs lead to the garden from the first floor. The second floor has the master bedroom with kingsize bed, a kids room for ages 3-12 and a mid-size guest room with queensize bed, with one large bathroom.

Style Notes

Modern, warm and welcoming. The living room has an orange Italian Ligne Roset couch and a Bouroullec Brothers pink easy chair and ottoman, a white Turkish carpet from abc, and floss lights. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances. There is a lot of sunlight throughout the house. We particularly love their back yard and its unique furniture.

Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn

Diverse and up-and-coming

Between Fort Greene, Williamsburg, Prospect Heights and Bushwick, Bed-Stu is one of Brooklyn’s most up-and-coming neighborhoods. Expect brownstones on tree-lined streets, sidewalks busy with families and a commute into Midtown that takes around half an hour. In the summer, the diverse community get together at street parties on the block and picnics in the local parks.
