This historic home with a pool in a charming medieval village in la Montagnette at the base of the Alpilles sleeps up to 9 + 1. The unique layout with two separate living spaces, each with two bedrooms and a bathroom connected by a central lounge, is ideal for two families vacationing together. With lovely hiking trails leading from the home, it is a bright and cozy base for exploring the beautiful Provençal countryside on foot while enjoying all the modern conveniences of French village life. We love the vine-covered stone façade, the eclectic mix of modern and shabby chic décor, and the restored original architectural touches. Watch the kids run about in the nearby playground, take a dip in the luxurious pool, and relax in the evening beside a crackling fire with a glass of local wine.

My husband, Laurent, our 2 daughters (Anna, 19 and Violette,13) and I love travelling. European towns for a few days (London, Rome, Bruxelles,...) are always a joyful experience to share with the girls. We also like to spend some time with friends in our house in Provence.

From the moment we arrived, we were utterly charmed by the Rue de la Clastre residence and the town of Boulbon. Pictures can't capture the beauty of the house and its grounds; the pool was a perfect size for the kids, and we ate every meal outside in the shade of a gorgeous old tree that is the centrepiece of a private, meticulously kept yard. The house itself is beautifully decorated - stylish but not at all fussy - and is well-laid out for two families. We loved walking to the village shops for food and running/hiking the extraordinary trail network on the nearby montagnette, as well as taking day trips to many of the nearby towns and sites Rachel lovingly describes in the excellent list of recommendations she thoughtfully leaves for guests.

When we arrived we just couldn´t believe it: this house really is as lovely as you see it in the pictures. It`s spacious, romantic and so extremely well decorated with so much love for details that you feel more than comfortable. We enjoyed our two weeks so much, our kids loved the pool or going to the boulangerie every morning to buy pain au chocolate and we loved eating at the long table under the plane tree, sitting in the garden or strolling around the village, Boulbon, which is very laidback and wonderfully normal - one Café, one tabac, one supermarket, one pharmacy one bakery, a nice little square with a fountain, a small playground next to the soccerfield (completely free of lavender-tourist-nonsense!). Rachel was such a generous host, so welcoming and surprising us with a littel book full of secret advices for things to do around in Provence (we went to Arles for the photo festival which is great). We will definitely return as soon as we can. Thank you, Rachel!

Castles & Country Trails

The medieval village of Boulbon at the foot of La Montagnette just southwest of Avignon is a hiker’s paradise. Anchored by a 12th century fortified castle, the village’s beautiful hiking trails stretch through forests of pine and garrigue. Enjoy a round at a nearby golf courses, experience cultural festivals, or take the kids to La Bouscarasse and Magicland-Circus-Beach waterparks, both within an hour’s drive.
