Perks for the Parents

This charming family apartment is filled with baby, toddler and preschool-age appropriate toys, close to playgrounds, and in one of Brooklyn’s most coveted and family-friendly neighborhoods. The apartment benefits from an outdoor space with room for little ones to play, and is close to local parks and playgrounds. The residence is 10 minutes from Wall Street by subway, and 15-20 minutes to Lower Manhattan. For larger groups, an air mattress can be used easily in the master bedroom for additional guests or kids.

Why Kids Love it

The hosts provide an assortment of baby, toddler and preschool age-appropriate toys and many beautiful books. Kids love the outdoor space and sand box. There is plenty of space for a family with 2 or 3 children. One bedroom is set up with a queensize bed while the smaller bedroom connected to the master is equipped with a crib. A travel crib, bouncy seat and a tripp trapp high chair are available. The bathroom has a bath and bath toys for little ones. A 15-minute walk takes you to Brooklyn Bridge Park, ideal for kids.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 days. The apartment is quite old and heated via furnace. Most are covered but some get very hot, so guests should be careful with little ones. There are a few stairs leading down to the apartment, but easy to manage with strollers. There are also a few stairs leading to the outdoor space. The hosts have a small, older dog; he has very short hair and does not shed, but those with severe allergies should be warned. The property is secured with a deadbolt and electronic key pad. Those with cars can typically find street parking in the neighborhood. Car rental is not essential.

About the Location

Brooklyn Heights is one of the most gorgeous and coveted neighborhoods in all of New York City. With streets full of charming and beautiful brownstones and many playgrounds, cafes and green spaces within short walking distance, it is a great place for a family stay. The residence is steps from the famous Brooklyn Bridge Park and Promenade with outstanding views of Manhattan. On the weekend, you can walk to Borough Hall and get produce at the farmers’ market. LaGuardia and JFK airports are an hour’s drive away. Manhattan can be reached in 10 minutes by subway/train.

Accommodation Details

This 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom garden apartment is set on the first floor. The 3 bedrooms comprise 1 large master room with kingsize bed and a small adjoining room, perfect for a baby, and a bedroom with queensize bed, used as a children’s bedroom. The bathroom has a tub and the living space has a sofa, fireplace and TV. There is a kitchen with gas stove, dishwasher and full size dining table. The outdoor space includes a covered sandbox, gas grill and patio furniture.

Style Notes

Simple, clean and eclectic. The walls are white and the doors black; mostly neutral colors feature throughout with color coming from the beautiful vintage rugs and art. The center piece in the living room is the beautiful mantel and the classic Chesterfield sofa. Walls in the bathroom are painted in palm and monstera leaves to give a chic and unexpected vibe. We love the display of inspiring children’s books, the cozy, historic feel and the proximity to the best of Brooklyn.

From North Carolina to Manhattan some eight years ago, my husband and I started what we thought would be a two year adventure. Two kids later and a handful of moves we have settled into a lovely spot in the most amazing neighborhood. Brooklyn Heights is the perfect location; we are just a short walk to the iconic Brooklyn Bridge Park and steps away from the most spectacular views of Manhattan via the promenade. In addition to being tourists in our own city, we love travel- (with) and without little ones! Kid and Coe sparked our interest after viewing the beautiful properties online and learning to navigate travel with small children. Comfort and convience are key, but a beautiful space makes everyone feel welcome.

We were greeted with some lovely snacks in the fridge and some very helpful assistance from Brooke. We enjoyed the location, the copious toys and books and super comfy accommodations. Wine at night on the back patio was a perfect way to cap off the day. We will definitely be back in the future! Thank you for a terrific stay!

We had a wonderful stay at the Livingston Street Residence. The home was spacious, clean, and comfortable and the host was responsive and thoughtful. Our toddler especially enjoyed all of the toys and books! The location was absolutely perfect. Walking distance to great cafes, restaurants, and playgrounds. Overall, the experience was excellent and we would stay there again.

The Brooklyn Heights location was the perfect jumping off location for our stay, so much to see and do in such a short distance. Brooke was the most gracious host, and so accommodating. Plus, having such a well decorated place made it feel like we were staying in a hotel. It was such a luxury having a place that was child friendly + not having to lug around around all of that extra stuff.

Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn

America's first suburb

Historical Brownstone Brooklyn starts here, where Brooklyn Bridge connects to Manhattan. It's a quiet, peaceful area - you might even wake up to birdsong - and is populated by families. Explore parks, kids shops and family-friendly eateries, then cycle or walk across the bridge to the big city. Don't miss the views from Brooklyn promenade over the water to the skyscrapers.
