There are beautiful views from the garden and the hosts can help parents with concierge services such as food deliveries, surf lessons or babysitting. This is the perfect place for a large family retreat - it can also be booked with The Red Barn for larger groups or special occasions.

Why Kids Love it

There’s plenty of outdoor space for kids who love to run around and explore. There’s a large garden with soccer nets, a treehouse in the woods and chickens running around to pet or chase. There’s also a hot tub which is perfect for chiller weather (kids must be supervised at all times). Indoors, they’ll be excited to share the colorful bunk room and there are toys to use during their stay. Guests can borrow surf boards or body-boards during their stay and kids will love the sandy beaches in this area.

Things to Know

Minimum stay varies between 2 and 7 nights (Thursday to Thursday). The nightly rate listed is based on a 6 or 7 night stay (the price is the same for both). Prices vary for shorter stays: contact the host for accurate pricing for shorter stays. Car rental is strongly recommended to explore the area - there’s plenty of space for parking outside. This house can be booked together with The Red Barn Residence, sleeping a total of 13, for summer holidays and family parties. The house comes with a dishwasher, washer/dryer, TV, DVD player and WiFi.

About the Location

The house is located just outside Bude, on the Cornwall/Devon border, in the UK. There are supermarkets in Bude (15 minutes’ drive) or you can pre-order a grocery shop to be delivered to the residence. It’s near the north Cornwall and Devon coast which is well known for its many surfing beaches, including Bude and Croyde, and the Cornwall Heritage Coast walking trails. Other nearby spots include The Eden Project (1 hour 15 minutes), Dartmoor National Park (1 hour 15 minutes), Clovelly (30 minutes) and Port Isaac (1 hour). Newquay regional airport is just over an hour away; London is 4-5 hours’ drive.

Accommodation Details

This residence has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. Downstairs, the open plan living area includes a lounge, diner and kitchen - ideal for big family meals. One of the 4 bedrooms (with a double bed) is also downstairs, with an ensuite shower room. Upstairs, there is a kids room (with a bunk bed and trundle bed) sleeping 3, and 2 more double bedrooms (1 of which can be arranged as a twin on request). The family bathroom has a bathtub and toiletries are provided. Outside there are 2 separate dining areas, the hot tub and a large grassy garden.

Style Notes

Contemporary conversion. This original barn was converted and designed by award-winning architects Feildon Fowles and is contemporary, bright and light thanks to the large windows and open plan layout. The decor is fun and fresh, with patterned wallpaper, bright pops of color, a modern log burner in the lounge and underfloor heating throughout. While it’s very light and airy, there are blackout blinds for those who need to sleep (great for little ones). We love the stylish A-frame window feature, the minimalist black and white kitchen and the cobbled stone exterior walls.

Payment policy
If the check in date is 8 weeks or more away, 30% of the total cost of the stay will be taken on booking acceptance with the balance due at 8 weeks before check in. If the check is date is less than 8 weeks away, the full cost of the stay will be taken up front.
Cancellation policy
For cancellations notified up to 6 weeks before the check in date, guests will receive a refund of any amount paid less 10% of the total cost of the booking. For cancellations notified at 6 weeks or less before the check in date, no refunds are given unless the host agrees. If a host does agree to a full or partial refund, this amount will be returned to the guest less 10% of the total cost of the booking. Some hosts will also allow a stay to be rescheduled. Guests should contact their host for further information regarding any request to change the dates of a stay.

We moved to Devon from London nine years ago to follow our dream and bring up our family by the seaside. It was a bit of a leap of faith but our boys, now 14 and 12 are avid surfers and we wouldn't change it for the world. Renovating Venn Farm, where we live, has been a labour of love. We now have three properties that we rent out for holidays, The Cob, The Red Barn and our latest edition Escallonia Cottage.

Fabulous stay in a wonderful home! The house was amazing - clean, spacious, modern decor and everything we could need. The outdoor space allowed us to make the most of the glorious weather - breakfast on the decking, and supper out in the little courtyard. Our children enjoyed visiting the hens and playing football on the grass and we all thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful beaches around Bude. Would highly recommend and would love to return!!

What a fantastic place! We had a great stay in a comfortable and stylish home. Hosts were helpful and kind. We loved the beaches and cliffs, boogie boarding, and exploring; we were happily surprised by genuinely fun archery lessons. We couldn't have asked for a better stay.

A wonderful home with everything we needed for the kids. Highchair and stairgates made the whole stay more relaxing with our climbing 1 yr old. The boys and us loved the space, outdoor access and visits to the chickens! Awesome place that felt like a holiday... even with 2 small kids. And the recommendations for places locally were super useful.
