This 18th century Cornish Cob cottage in the very picturesque village of Marhamchurch sleeping 5 is a real one-off. Lovingly looked after by a creative family, it has cosy nooks, undulating walls, a kitchen garden and a woodburning stove. Full of charm and happiness, it has sofas that invite you to sprawl out and relax and a kitchen table made for a family game of Monopoly. We love the cool whites and grays of the lounge and bedrooms, coupled with dashes of vibrant color in the quilts, toys and rugs. Stay here to explore North Cornwall's beaches, smugglers’ coves and pretty fishing villages: Tintagel castle is just a hop, skip and jump away, as are Bude’s three great family beaches, which include one with a semi-natural tidal pool. Cornwall is a great destination for all seasons.

What we love

  • Unique, rustic reclaimed items, a traditional colour scheme and unique vintage finds
  • The coastal touches: a stuffed walrus head, seashell ornaments and an octopus cushion
  • Lovely farmhouse table and kitchen begging you to cook a homecooked family meal from local goodies
  • Kitchen with slate flagstone floor, beamed ceiling, Smeg fridge and Belfast sink.
  • The bathroom is a dream - a roll top claw foot bath and a power shower
  • Twin room with patchwork quilts, plus a single bedroom and a soothing master bedroom
  • The front garden: pick herbs together, play on the lawn or relax in the hammock
  • Garden office with heating, electricity, superfast broadband, a desk and books available to use for any work you might need to bring with you
  • If it’s raining, cosy up on the sofa or window seat and read, watch DVDs or play with the toys
  • Nearby, there’s Bude’s sea pool, a farmer’s market, Tintagel, Port Isaac and Padstow plus plenty of beaches and the Southwest Coast Path
  • Marhamchurch is a truly delightful village with a local Pub, shop and cafe

It was lovely to be back at this beautiful house - we enjoyed our stay very much. The house was calm and tranquil with fantastic decor - great garden for kids to run around and play. There are so many fantastic beaches and places of interest within easy reach.

This was a lovely stay, despite the wet weather we enjoyed the Hobbacott lane residence so much. The kids loved the toys and their cute room, they spend lots of tim in the garden and I'm afraid ate all the carrots they harvested !

The Hobbacott Lane Residence was a lovely property and we very much enjoyed staying there. The local tips/suggestions and "house manual" left by the hosts were extremely useful and we found their dining suggestions to be very accurate! The home itself is quite pleasant and the toys and books inside were a delight for our young daughter. Highly recommended. Just a note for parents with young children: the heated towel bar in the bathroom cannot be adjusted or turned off, and it's *extremely* hot. The stairs are also quite steep and the single bathroom is upstairs, so you may need to be prepared to do a lot of carrying/escorting your child(ren) up and down - especially if you happen to be in the middle of potty training as we were!

We had a perfect stay at the Hobbacott Lane Residence. The house was beautiful, impeccably decorated and relaxing. Our hosts were really lovely and helpful - they left suggestions for days out and let us pick as much fruit from the garden as we wanted. The kitchen was really well equipped, loved the enormous cooker. Beds were incredibly comfortable with lovely Egyptian cotton sheets. The children had a fantastic time (great collection of kids' books) - we were all very, very sad to leave.

It was a great pleasure and joy to stay in this lovely home. We felt very comfortable. The garden is a dream. The house is bright, friendly, unique. Were it not so far from our home, we would constantly come. Thank you Rebecca that you share your amazing home with us. Love Wiebke from Northern Germany

Bude, Cornwall

Sandy beaches, a tidal pool and The Big Sheep

This North Cornwall town just over the Devon border has two sandy beaches, a romantic tidal pool tucked into the cliffs, playgrounds and riverside walks made for wildlife spotters. It’s a fantastic place for a family holiday - and if it rains, The Big Sheep, a local family theme park, has a great indoor play area.
