Perks for the Parents

This lovely residence is well set up for a family stay with indoor and outdoor family-sized dining areas for up to 10. The house has an upper part with outdoor sofas for lounging and a lower part with separate entrance, ideal for a second family with 1 child or baby in crib, or teenagers, nanny/au pair or grandparents. After a day on the beach, dinner on the terrace or in the restaurants along the Bassin, tasting the famous local oysters and white wine, is a perfect ending.

Why Kids Love it

Little girls will love the swing in the garden, the dolls and books in the playroom; boys will enjoy the football goal in the garden. Both will love the sandy beaches and the wide array of outdoor activities nearby - and the beach, which is a 5 minute walk or short cycle away. The garden is great for playing hide and seek. Kids bedrooms include 1 single bedroom and 2 bedrooms with 2 twin beds.

Things to Know

Note that the minimum stay is 3 nights (except for July and August where there is a 5 night minimum). The property is safe and secure with a gated garden but children should be supervised on the terraces which could be tricky for very little children learning to walk. Car parking is available directly in front of the house. There is a large supermarket 4 km away. There are steps throughout the garden. There is no WiFi. Car hire is recommended.

About the Location

A fantastic family location, 5 minutes walk from the quiet, sandy beaches of Bassin d'Arcachon in magical Cap Ferret, ideal for younger kids, and the same from the Atlantic Ocean for swimming and surfing with older kids. Activities nearby include swimming, sailing, surfing, tennis, horse riding, golf, mini golf and accrobranches (treetop adventures). The property is 60 km from Bordeaux airport or Bordeaux TGV train station.

Accommodation Details

Five bedroom 2-floor house with terraces and a large garden. The upper part of the house has 3 bedrooms (1 with a kingsize bed and 2 with 2 single beds) with a master bathroom with tub and a separate WC. The lower part is accessible only by the garden and has 2 bedrooms (one with a kingsize bed and one with a single bed) and a shower room. The single bed bedroom doubles as a playroom with a screen for DVD, books and games and opens to a terrace.

Style Notes

This bright house has been recently renovated for a family with 3 children and is refurbished with a bobo mix of 50's and modern. Sun pours in through the floor-to-ceiling windows in the lounge/dining area, and French doors open to decking and flower filled gardens beyond. Floors are tiled and natural colors make the house harmonious. We love the colorful furnishings, the terraces and the beautiful garden, with plenty of options for outdoor living.

Bonjour! We are a 3 children family, loving outdoors, sea, fun, friends but also culture and big cities ... We definitely enjoy staying in a house for our holidays as we live in an apartment in Paris le Marais but we also love big cities for their unbeatable cultural offers! We joined Kid & Coe because we like the beautiful houses & locations very much and we love to share our summer house with other Kid&Coe.-ers too. A bientôt.

Cap Ferret, Gironde

Wine, oysters and sandy beaches

This glamorous finger of land, an hour west of Bordeaux, is beloved of the jet set seeking a quiet place for the summer, and is known for its oysters and beaches. With the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the lagoon of Arcachon Bay, famed for its oysters, to the east, there are quiet sandy beaches for smaller kids and big ocean waves and surf for older children. There are no museums and few must-see attractions, just sun, sand, sea, surfing, swimming, sailing, cycling and sports to keep you occupied. As the sun sets, be sure to try the local oysters with a glass of white wine.
