Perks for the Parents

Where else in Chicago (or the world) can you stay in an apartment with a 7-foot hot pink hammerhead shark on the wall, a bunk bed room for kids and a jacuzzi for the parents? This super styled 4-bedroom apartment sleeps up to 10. It is well set up for a family stay, and includes a full kitchen, dining table, enormous living space, bathtub, jacuzzi and jaw -dropping design. TV with cable channels is included. Steps from a park plus coffee shops and restaurants, it is in the north of the city 10-15 minutes from downtown and the same from the shores of Lake Michigan.

Why Kids Love it

This apartment not only has plenty of space for the kids to rule the apartment but the decor is also very fun and kid friendly. Have your kids ever seen a 7 foot hot pink hammer head shark before? Stay here and they will! There is also a hot pink tub and a turquoise jacuzzi for endless photo opportunities. The bedrooms include 1 with a bunkbed and 2 further bedrooms with double beds, plus a master bedroom for parents. Reach out to the concierge team for baby rental equipment including cribs and high chairs on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay varies through the year. Most weekdays require 3 nights, most weekends 2 nights; 4 nights over Thanksgiving. There is a fee of $40 per person when booked for groups of more than 4. Pets welcome. The apartment is a second floor walk up (no elevator). Children may need supervision on the private balcony. With access to the apartment through the front or back, you can enter whichever way makes bringing the kids up easier for you. Parking is also available in the back. Please note, the hosts have removed the nude wall art and replaced it with a kid-friendly alternative. Car rental is useful but not essential in this area, which is well served by public transportation, taxis and Uber. A high chair and pack'n'play are available on request; if you need other baby/toddler items please ask the host as they may be available. Shared Housing Id R21000060733

About the Location

The residence is right in the heart of Wicker Park, in the dead center of the Milwaukee strip. It is steps away from amazing restaurants, shops and parks. North Damen Avenue nearby has quirky shops, cafes and specialty grocery stores; there is an award-winning dining scene and plenty of independent boutiques. Downtown Chicago is a 10-15 minute drive away while the lakeshore is just over 6 miles away. Chicago O’Hare is a 45-minute drive away.

Accommodation Details

This third floor apartment has an open plan main living space with lounge, dining area and kitchen. There are 4 bedrooms: 1 with bunk beds, 3 with queensize beds, and 2 bathrooms. Both bathrooms have a tub (one is pillar box red, the other is a turquoise jacuzzi tub). There is also a private balcony.

Style Notes

Tropical and tremendous. This bright colorful apartment has to be one of the best properties on the Kid & Coe website play eye spy in. Look out for countless details - from Wes Anderson books (where did you think the design inspiration came from?!) to hot pink tiki tables, painted seashells and an escaped flamingo.

Chicago, Illinois

The Midwest's most visited

From marvelling at skyscrapers to wandering kid-friendly museums and cultural centers, playing in parks and getting around by water taxi or L-train, it's no wonder that the Windy City is popular with families. Anish Kapoor’s Bean sculpture at Millenium Park is the place for a family photo, with reflections of the cityscape in its surfaces behind you; the big wheel at Navy Pier is a great place for city views, and for hide and seek among statues of Dorothy, plus an exceptional playpark at the end, try Oz Park. The city has a thriving food scene, but if your kids prefer things simple, hot dogs, deep dish pizzas and burgers are all served up Chicago-style and are sure to keep them happy.
