Perks for the Parents

This sunny home with a garden is just steps from Clapham Common and within easy reach of the city at large, and includes toys and games for young children. Set up with great family spaces, bathrooms include tubs (with a very special freestanding one under skylights at the top of the house), and bedrooms are cozy. The open plan kitchen-dining room makes it easy to cook family meals while the kids play, and there is a separate lounge as well. The private fenced garden comes into its own in the summer months, with an electric barbecu,e acapulco chairs and a hanging chair so you can relax while the kids play on the lawn. Trusted babysitters can be recommended and booked, and some of London's top restaurants are just steps away.

Why Kids Love it

This house is great for babies, toddlers and young children. It is a very short walk to the park with a fun playground (with mud club running twice a week!), and a soft play nearby. A crib, cot-bed, high chairs, baby bath and toys for baby to 3 year olds are available, plus a scooter and a balance bike for outside use, and a scuttlebug for inside. There are small cars, a train set and lots of books to keep your children entertained. South West London, also know as 'Nappy Valley' has loads to do with children and some great child friendly restaurants and cafés. A walk across the Common takes you to the Northcote Road with lots of children's shops, more cafés and restaurants, and soft play café Bertie and Boo.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The house is on a residential street, with metered parking 10-12, Monday-Friday. Car rental is not essential in this area - you are a short walk from bus routes and the tube station, both offering easy access across the city, and there are taxi ranks and Uber in the area. The house has no stair gates but the sitting room/living room can be closed off so your children can roam free. Both children's rooms have black-out blinds, as well as the master bedroom. All the windows have child locks.

About the Location

The property is on a quiet residential street, a 10-minute walk from Clapham Common Tube station (Northern line), and 5 minutes to the nearest bus stop, with direct buses to Sloane Square and Oxford Street. It is super easy to get in to central London from this location for museums, restaurants, theaters and other entertainment. The street is off the famous Abbeville Road, with independent restaurants, cafés, coffee shops, delicatessens and shops. Heathrow Airport is a 50-minute drive away, with Gatwick Airport 40 minutes away by Gatwick Express and bus, or an hour by car.

Accommodation Details

This spacious 4-bedroom house is set out over 3 floors. On the ground floor there is a generous open plan living room/playroom and modern kitchen. This opens out to a cozy sitting room which has a double sofa bed. There is a hallway with space for strollers, and a small WC. On the first floor, there is a very large kids room with crib/toddler bed, and a baby's nursery with crib, plus a spare room (perfect for older children or nannies) with queensize bed, and a family bathroom with a bath. The luxurious ensuite master bedroom is on the top floor and includes a bathroom with tub and bedroom with super kingsize bed. The house has a private back garden.

Style Notes

Modern Family. This newly refurbished home has plenty of charm and contemporary details to delight parents and children alike. With traditional wooden floors downstairs, plus a kitchen with a blue island, range oven, large dining table and built in bench, the modernized living/dining area is light and easy to enjoy. The biggest kids room features fun Scandi-style wallpaper and a teepee, while the baby room has a sweet circus theme. The standout feature of the house is the master suite right at the top, which has super kingsize bed, juliette balcony, and large clawfoot bathtub under big velux windows so you can bathe with a view of the stars.

We're a family of 4 who love living in S.W London, but also love being able to travel and explore new places as much as we can.

Clapham, London

Green spaces and gastro pubs

Set between Brixton and Battersea, Clapham is a lovely neighborhood just 20 minutes by public transport from the West End, with green spaces, gastro pubs and plenty of local families. Clapham Common is a great place to play, walk dogs and have a picnic in the summer; Battersea Power Station nearby hosts family-friendly events, and it’s just a short bus ride to Battersea Park for its zoo, playground, running tracks and boating pond. Brockwell Lido, nearby is great for a dip in the summer.
