Perks for the Parents

This garden flat is across the street from Clapham Common and includes plenty for children, especially those aged 5 and under. Well set up for a small family, there is an open kitchen, dining room, and living room, all set off of a small garden. The apartment is stylishly decorated, with a large bed for the parents, as well as bunk beds and a crib for the kids. The garden is perfect for a morning cup of coffee or a glass of wine after the children go to bed. Central London for museums, shopping, and sightseeing is easily accessible in around 20 minutes.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has plenty of toys for ages 5 and under and is directly across the street from Clapham Common, a large green park which has a duck pond, a bandstand with café where the kids can ride bikes or scooters, multiple playgrounds, and a wading fountain in the summer. The family bathroom has a large bathtub. Set very close to the Clapham Common tube station, it is in an easy location with little kids. There are plenty of lovely family friendly restaurants in the area, as well as multiple local cafés.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 4 nights. This garden flat is safe and secure with very high walls around the outside of the garden, and is gated to the street. The garden connects to both the living room and master bedroom. It is on the ground level so there are no internal stairs. There is no street noise. The neighborhood has a leisure center if gym access is needed, and the common across the street is a great place for strolls through the park or a run. Car rental is not essential with reliable public transit routes nearby. Note that there is no TV and no private parking.

About the Location

The residence is in the heart of Clapham Common, a very family friendly area, close to Clapham Old Town in south London. It is a 20-minute commute into central London by car, bus or tube. The flat is directly in front of the Clapham Common tube station. There is a farmers market across the street every Saturday, with gourmet food stalls and local vendors selling fresh produce, meats and cheeses. The property is also across the street from a Waitrose and an organic, local butcher. Both Heathrow and Gatwick airports are around an hour away by taxi, car or public transport.

Accommodation Details

This 2-bedroom garden flat has an open plan kitchen, diner and lounge, with a table for 4 and a breakfast bar, a bathroom with a shower and bath, and a paved and planted garden. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed and opens to the small garden. The children’s bedroom has bunk beds, a crib and plenty of toys.

Style Notes

Sophisticated and charming. This modern family-focused apartment has a neutral palette with pops of color and modern furnishings. Design touches include a Moroccan-tiled bathroom, wood-topped counters in the kitchen and bathroom, and unique accent lighting throughout. This cozy and charming space has pops of modern artwork accenting the walls and plenty of comforts for kids. We love the breakfast bar, the playful Keith Haring designs and the fantastic location.

We are a family of three, living between London and NYC. We love to travel anywhere warm, and show our daughter new places. We have had a wonderful experience both hosting and renting on Kid & Coe!

Jen was a wonderful host and the apartment was perfect for our family! She was always very responsive to any inquiry and available before and during our stay. Checking in was seamless and the apartment was perfect for our family of four with comfortable beds and linens, toys, and a well-stocked kitchen -- we couldn't have been more pleased. The apartment is adorable and comfortable. Clapham is also a great home base for families -- a park right across the street, lots of convenient shops, and close transportation. Thank you for being a great host!

We enjoyed the chance to feel like locals while staying at the Clapham Common Residence. We shopped at the local market, let our daughters splash in the paddling pond in the park across the street, and took advantage of the local tube and bus stop. We felt happy to be seeing another part of the city and avoiding the main touristy areas. It is a hike to the airport and public transport--although usually fantastic--can be crowded or delayed, but the area is lively and pleasant. The apartment felt very secure and is nicely separated from the street (and street noise) and had everything that we needed.

Clapham, London

Green spaces and gastro pubs

Set between Brixton and Battersea, Clapham is a lovely neighborhood just 20 minutes by public transport from the West End, with green spaces, gastro pubs and plenty of local families. Clapham Common is a great place to play, walk dogs and have a picnic in the summer; Battersea Power Station nearby hosts family-friendly events, and it’s just a short bus ride to Battersea Park for its zoo, playground, running tracks and boating pond. Brockwell Lido, nearby is great for a dip in the summer.
