Perks for the Parents

This spacious 2-story Danish design apartment in the heart of Copenhagen has a roof terrace with views of the city and is set in lush green surroundings. With plenty of space for all the family, a large living area and characterful bedrooms with sloping ceilings, it is a great space for a family trip in the city. Additional treats include a shared garden with a trampoline, and designer shopping just steps away.

Why Kids Love it

There is space for everyone, and toys and games to suit all ages, including a play area in the loft space. Toddlers will enjoy the shared open plan kitchen and living room, while older children will appreciate the privacy of the upper level. There is a garden with a trampoline, shared with 2 other families in the building, and bikes to borrow. A crib and 3 toddler beds are available for younger children.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. The apartment is on the second floor with no elevator. There is a staircase between the lower and upper level with no staircase and there is a fireplace without a guard. Note that the bed loft has no stair gate. All windows have safety locks as do the doors for the terrace and the french balcony. The terrace is fenced and safe for children. Car rental is not essential for a stay in this part of the city - parking can be difficult and the public transportation system is highly reliable.

About the Location

In the Frederiksberg area of central Copenhagen, the apartment is within walking distance of the city’s best design shops along with famous restaurants. There are cafés, family-friendly restaurants, cinemas and playgrounds just around the corner. The street is just off main roads, making it completely quiet and green. The metro runs a few minutes’ walk from the apartment and can take you through the city and directly to the airport. The closest stop is Forum. The airport is a 25-minute drive or metro ride away.

Accommodation Details

This second floor apartment has a spacious kitchen and living room with access to the private rooftop terrace from the kitchen. There are 2 bedrooms in the lower level, both with queensize beds, and 1 bedroom on the upper level, with a bed loft at the top with toddler beds and a sofa bed that can be used as a playroom. The family bathroom has a bathtub and shower. There is a garden with a trampoline that is shared with 2 other families in the building.

Style Notes

Scandinavian design. Minimalistic but homey, practical and meant for everyday life, the apartment includes vintage design objects and furniture as well as newer design items. Stripped pine floorboards, white walls and simple lighting make it easy to live in without clutter and fuss. We love the roof terrace with views of the city and the fun play/sleeping loft at the top of the apartment.

My husband and I are both public employees, and we have been living in Copenhagen since 2000. The whole family spent 2 years in Tanzania, but have been back in Denmark since 2014. Our kids go to the public school just down the street and the kindergarten on the street next to ours.

We had a laidback, very relaxing stay at The Stankt Knuds Residence. Communication with Dinna was excellent before and during our stay and everything was great. The location is perfect and we walked everywhere. Highly recommend the Glyptoteket. Lots of supermarkets around to prepare meals and we also enjoyed a delicious brunch round the corner at The Laundromat Cafe - very child friendly. Thank you Dinna and family for a much-needed break in laidback Copenhagen!

We had a great time in Copenhagen. The email exchanges with Dinna were very good, as always good advice and very helpful to prepare our coming. The apartment is superb, very pleasant to live and warm. We immediately felt very good. It is tastefully decorated and very well equipped. The terrace with the radiant heating allows to enjoy this space all the time and it is very nice. We also loved the fireplace in the living room. It gives a very warm side. There are plenty of games for the kids. And the possibility of using the bikes is great to discover the city as a family. We will definitely come back with pleasure to Dinna and her family home!

The Little Mermaid to the Big Dipper

Copenhagen is the perfect-sized city to explore with a young family. Borrow a cargo bike and freewheel around town, exploring bakeries, the Tivoli funfair and the city’s historic streets. Give the Little Mermaid a wave from a boat tour and make sure you visit some of the city’s fantastic museums - including its excellent zoo. Fun fact: Lego was created nearby.
