About the Location

The residence is in the Dordogne countryside in the ‘golden triangle’ between the historic 'Cité Médiévale' of Gourdon, medieval Sarlat and the pilgrim site of Rocamadour. It is close to the Dordogne river for relaxing on the river beach, hiring canoes and trips on a historic Gabbare at Beynac. Other family-friendly activities in the area include caves with prehistoric cave paintings, local markets, a steam train, eagles, Gramat Zoo and Aquaparc at Quercyland. The nearest airport is in Brive (with links to London Stansted and London City airports); Limoges, Rodez and Bergerac are all under 2 hours’ drive and also have airports.

Accommodation Details

This restored barn has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and includes a private fenced and screened decking and barbecue area at the front and a fully enclosed shared garden at the rear with play equipment for younger children. The rear door of the house leads to the garden. Inside there is a kitchen with an island and a dining area on the ground floor plus lounge, WC, shower room and washing machine. The first floor includes a master bedroom with kingsize bed, a bathroom with shower, a second bedroom with kingsize bed, plus 2 further bedrooms with 2 single beds.

Style Notes

Rustic French. The renovated stone barn has handmade designer fabric curtains and blinds throughout and some rustic original features. Many of the original beams and features have been incorporated in the renovation of the property, including in the lounge, where there are oak beams. Bedrooms are cozy with white walls and co-ordinating linen. We love the cheerful kitchen with its original beams, sunshine yellow chairs and yellow backsplash tiles and the sunny deck with a shaded dining table for long, lazy lunchtime meals.
