This Victorian apartment in the vibrant Duboce Triangle district sleeps 5 + 1 and is a great spot for families visiting San Francisco. Grown-ups will love the picture windows, dreamy designer kitchen and distinctive dark grey décor throughout. Kids will have a ball playing hide and seek in the back garden, and will no doubt nag for an evening grill under the atmospheric fairy lights. Best of all is the location: well connected with the city’s transport systems, including the Muni metro and historic street cars, this safe laid-back suburb is described as a well-kept secret – close to everything you want to see but away from the noise and crowds. For those travelling with tiny tots, the area is just also below the insanely hilly slopes of Buena Vista – so manageable with a stroller.

What we love

  • Supercool nursery room with crib, toys and turquoise Golden Gate decal
  • Two double bedrooms, one with kingsize bed, the other with a queensize bed
  • Lounge with more travel guides to peruse than a travel book shop plus a large flat screen TV and comfortable sofa
  • Plenty of toys for tots and toddlers
  • Well located in a family-friendly yet central neighborhood
  • Modern chrome kitchen
  • Outdoor space with grill, seating and large garden
  • Great provision for little kids: high chairs and strollers provided and it's all fully child-proofed
  • Within walking distance of 3 fabulous parks; the closest, Duboce Park, is just a block away

Things to know

  • Under half an hour by car/taxi from San Francisco International Airport
  • Great transport links to the rest of the city; the nearest BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station is 10 minutes walk away
  • No need for a hire car - and parking here can be tricky
  • 45 minutes by BART to Golden Gate Park; 40 minutes to Fisherman’s Wharf and The Ferry Building
  • Two bedrooms are on the main living floor while the third (guest room) is on the garden level
  • WiFi throughout
  • The residence is the bottom flat of a 2-story Victorian building with friendly neighbors
  • The fully fenced in backyard has some spiky plants but is otherwise fully kid-friendly

We are a family of four that loves living in the heart of San Francisco, surrounded by parks, restaurants and tons of kid-friendly destinations. We live in the home we have listed on Kid & Coe and rent it when we are on vacation. It is an 1890s Victorian that is well-loved and cared for, but also lived in - making it great for families with young children!

Jessica was a great host. Everything was as expected, and perfect for us. We had 2 families staying there, each family with one child. The layout of the house is hard to understand until you see it in person. The house was in a great neighborhood, and easily walkable to many great parks and restaurants. Our kids loved playing in the playroom and with all the fun toys and books that the Hale family has. The weather was nice enough we even had a BBQ in the backyard. This was the perfect rental and we would definitely stay there again :) One thing to know is that one of the bedrooms is downstairs and only accessed by a door from the backyard, so to use the restroom you have to go outside, upstairs into the main house. (It's just below the main house, not far at all). Other than that everything was really convenient. There is only one restroom in the house (which is very common in SF) but it was nice that the toilet was separate from the shower/sink so two people could be using the bathroom.

Perfect perfect location! Very close to great parks. We were super comfortable, and Jessica is a gracious host - even left a bottle of wine for us tired parents. Our kids were in heaven with the children's playroom and toys, and slept wonderfully in the bedroom. And bonus for us, a comfortable living room away from the children's area so we could relax at night.

We had a great stay here! The apartment is located within walking distance to parks, shopping and restaurants. The Master bedroom and nursery were clean and quiet. The third bedroom wasn't as nice but it worked for us. The first day we could smell that a dog lived in the home, but after the first day it went away (if you are highly allergic it could bother you). The kitchen was great, there was no microwave but the was lots of space to cook and hang out. The backyard was amazing- there was lots of room to play. It was so nice to be able to use their stroller, high chair, toys, etc. We would stay there again.

Beautiful home in a fantastic location. We enjoyed a couples weekend vacation and had two kiddos along--a 5-month-old and a 22-month-old. Our toddler loved the back yard and sand table and the adults had a blast around the communal table every night. Jessica and her husband were generous (offering up various kid gear...and even wine!), easy to communicate with, and left us plenty of tips on where to go and what to see. Thank you so much, Hale family!
