Perks for the Parents

Set in upmarket, stylish and family-friendly East Dulwich, this Victorian terraced house has a light-filled and spacious kitchen plus cute kids bedroom. Just 15 minutes by train from central London, it is a lovely family home set over 3 floors with spacious, light and comfortable rooms plus a garden. The key USP is its location - close to some of London’s best parks, adventure playgrounds and skate tracks, yet only a short train ride to the South Bank, Tate Modern and other gems. This is village living, in one of the world’s best cities.

Why Kids Love it

Kids will love the location - just a 15-minute walk not only to the large, leafy Dulwich Park with playground, but also Peckham Rye, which boasts an adventure playground and skate park. A smaller park at Goose Green has another playground. The home comes with 300 DVDs, plus plenty of books, toys and games. The kids bedroom is great fun with 2 mini loft beds (suitable from approximately age 4). With no stair gates and limited baby itesm, the house is best for those with children over the age of 3.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 days. There is free outdoor street parking outside and a pool and gym nearby. Car rental is useful but not essential, with reliable public transport routes nearby including bus and train routes. No pets or parties are allowed in the property. Please note that the upstairs ensuite shower room contains a macerator, so guests will need to take care not to throw anything that might block it. The property is set over 3 levels and does not have any stair gates. The garden is fully enclosed.

About the Location

The residence is in leafy and family-friendly East Dulwich, an area with plenty of independent shops, organic butchers, gastro pubs and a PictureHouse cinema. It has wide green spaces and picturesque streets, yet is only a 30-minute cycle or 15-minute train journey from central London. The property is just off Lordship Lane, a vibrant street filled with organic grocery stores, pretty boutiques and trendy eateries. Gatwick and Heathrow airports are easily reached via the public transport network or by taxi in around an hour.

Accommodation Details

This stylish Victorian property comprises hallway, living room, reading room with desk and comfy sofa and a large kitchen with range cooker and central island. Upstairs is a family bathroom with a shower over the tub plus 2 bedrooms. The larger one has 2 cabin/loft beds for kids; the second has a double sofa-bed and usually functions as a study. In the top of the house is the master bedroom, with kingsize bed with a wrought iron frame, and an ensuite shower. The next door bedroom has a double bed and dresser.

Style Notes

Modern Victorian. Bright, light, modern and sophisticated, this property has recently been refurbished to a high standard. Decorated in neutral colours, it is both functional and comfortable. The lounge is fitted with a wooden floor, whilst the reading room and kitchen both have underfloor heating beneath the slate tiles. The second and third floors are fitted with a sumptuous 100% pure lambs’ wool carpet. We love the cheerful kids bedroom, the monochrome lounge and the light-filled white-tiled kitchen.

I stayed at the Landcroft Residence with 3 other adults and four children aged 10, 8, 5 and 4. Three of the children and their parents came from America to visit us in London. We were all very comfortable and it was a wonderful home from home. The children loved the huge selection of toys, books, games and DVDs. The adults loved the amazing kitchen, comfortable lounge and the lovely space for the children to spend time together. The pictures online do not do the house justice! The house was clean, charming, well stocked and an absolute pleasure to stay at, as well as being a great base to explore London from. The 185 bus goes to Victoria Station, or there is the option to get off at Oval for the Northern Line. Getting into London is quick and easy and it was lovely to come 'home' to a nice quiet neighbourhood. Shops, restaurants, bakeries and even a cinema are a short walk. Aliya communicated with me from beginning to end and answered all of my questions! I hope to stay here again in the near future!

Dulwich, London

Lakes, parks and stories

To the south of central London, beyond Battersea and Brixton, the green oasis of Dulwich includes parks with boating lakes and duck ponds and enough play areas to entertain the kids in a different spot every day of the week. It’s about half an hour from London Bridge by train and Tube and was once the home of Enid Blyton.
