Perks for the Parents

This stunning Hamptons home includes a kids bunk room, a spacious lawn with swingset and plenty of room to relax. Steps from the bay beach waterfront ideal for little kids, it has a retreat feel in the woods. A wraparound deck and covered porches make indoor/outdoor living easy. There is a big TV with surround sound in the media room for kids films. The house is close to Sag Harbor and East Hampton villages and is an easy walk from the bay for swimming with an outdoor shower for rinsing off. There is an exercise bike in the basement.

Why Kids Love it

There is room to romp and play indoor and out. The garden includes a huge trampoline and swings, soccer goals, balls and bats and toys galore. For young kids, equipment includes a pack’n’play, strollers, baby swing, hiking kid carrier back pack, jumper and more. The kids bedroom includes 2 twin beds and a bunk bed for fun sleepovers. The lower level of the house is great and private for older kids to get away for some peace or a movie. There is a play room on this level with a train table and hot wheels garage which doubles as a fifth bedroom.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 7 days. Multi-week and monthly bookings are preferred. In peak season, utilities, cleaning and certain services are additional - please confirm with host on booking. The residence has no pool but there is a slip and slide and a hose/irrigation system with sprinklers that kids love running in. A gated fence keeps out wild turkeys and deer and keeps kids safe. The owners spray for ticks in the season as they are a problem in Eastern long island. The home is baby proofed and the lower level is kept shut for toddlers with a latch on the door out of reach of small children. Cable TV and WiFi are included. No pets. Driveway parking for 6 cars available.

About the Location

The residence is in the Northwest Harbor area of East Hampton, close to Sag Harbor and a short walk from a bay beach with few waves, ideal for younger children. The ocean beach has big surf sometimes. East Hampton and Sag Harbor villages are equidistant with the ocean beaches of East Hampton, Wainscott and Amagansett a short drive away. There is great hiking and dining nearby. Nearby libraries are great for kids with lots to do; the owners have a brochure with information on things to do with the kids e.g. local wineries, children's museum. The area is approximately 2.5 hours’ drive from New York City and can be reached by jitney into East Hampton. Car rental is recommended to get the best from the area.

Accommodation Details

This 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom home includes a large wrap around deck, spacious living areas and expansive gardens set on over an acre. The upper level has 3 large bedrooms, 1 with ensuite bathroom and 2 others sharing a bathroom. These bedrooms include 1 with kingsize bed, 1 with 2 twin beds and 2 trundles beneath them, and 1 with a queensize bed. The main floor has a kitchen/diner flowing into a large living room with fireplace. The lower level is a finished basement with home theater/den and 2 further bedrooms, 1 set up as a gym/playroom with a bunkbed and day bed, the other with a fullsize/double bed. The basement also includes a half bathroom, store room, wine cellar and second laundry room with backup refrigerator.

Style Notes

Cool, contemporary and relaxed. This stunning home has various designer finishes with a modern and mid century look. Designer curated finishes and furnishings are by Britain's Terence Conran and Jonathan Adler among others. The kitchen is a cook’s delight, fully loaded with top end appliances and Williams Sonoma cookware, crockery and wine glasses. Indoor/outdoor living is key; the home was recently renovated and includes art works, sliding glass doors and a wood burning fire. The outdoor fire pit is cosy on chillier nights and good for s'more making. We love the architecture overall, the expansive lawn and the modern beachy feel throughout.

Wife and I live in Brooklyn with our 3 young sons. She's a Brooklyn gal and I am from the UK. We are back there a lot for my business and for family trips. We travel a lot with our kids usually for an extended trip to a country or 3 for 3/4 weeks in the summer. It's a lot sometimes but always worth it & makes for great adventures. I have a feeling a lot of people on here will be similar to us, even though I think we're in the minority of young families overall - rare breed! We look to rent on places like airbnb & vrbo most of the time as we're too big a team for hotels and we like the space, privacy and comfort of and apartment or house. Especially with 3 loud boys thundering about the place :) We have a place at the beach East Hampton NY which we've listed on here and mostly rent to other young families, the feedback has been amazing - people are so thankful it's baby safe, there's a swing, toys, a stroller or two, just little things that mean you don't have to drag it from home - having lugged multiple baby seats half way around the world in addition to luggage - believe me I get it!! Looking forward to hosting & interacting with hosts on our trips & making those family memories in fun new places.

we had a great time and the house was fantastic for the kids and the parents you have the beach walking distance and the kids loved it the only fault that i could say is that the mattresses are very hard and not very comfortable

East Hampton, The Hamptons

Mansions and main beach

East Hampton is this affluent playground’s most fashionable town, known for its grand houses and estates as much for its readings and exhibitions. The main draw is Main Beach, a beautiful coastline with clean sands, inviting waters, professional lifeguards, plenty of space and millionaire mansions on the banks. LongHouse Reserve, with its enchanting sculpture garden, and Hither Hills State Park are also worth a visit.
