Style Notes

City chic. The apartment is modern, comfortable, spacious and sunny. The mainly neutral interior design is enlivened with contemporary art and vintage furniture, while the high ceilings and large windows provide elegance and light. The floors are all done in beautiful herringbone parquet. We love the quirky wooden, waved ceiling in the living room, the 1960s vintage sideboard and the modern art that adorns the walls of this welcoming apartment.

Our stay at Calle Balmes was wonderful. The apartment was very well located and the accommodations were lovely. We traveled with our 5 year old and 4 month old and the house was very well equipped for both children. There were ample toys/books to play with and there was a high chair and crib that were perfect for our little one. Armando and Marina also went out of their way to send helpful recommendations for grocery shopping, restaurants, and family friend activities. Also, anytime we had a question, they were easy to reach and replied promptly. We would definitely recommend this apartment for other families traveling to the Barcelona area and would love to stay there again ourselves!

Armando is an excellent host- answered several questions promptly and was very flexible with our arrival time. We absolutely loved he apartment- it looks as good as the photos, has many toys for kids, and is well stocked with cleaning supplies and kitchen supplies. Location is great if you are interested in seeing Gaudí buildings and being a little away from the craziness of Las Ramblas. We were with a 1 and 3 year old and fit into space nicely.

Eixample, Barcelona

Modernist buildings and beautiful boutiques

The narrow medieval streets of the old city become refreshed and modern at Eixample. Expect to see undulating buildings, architectural masterpieces and plenty of examples of Gaudi’s work in the area, including the Sagrada Familia. It’s a very central area with beautiful clothes shops, hip bars and the best of the city’s nightlife.
