This white and blue painted beach cottage, walking distance from downtown Encinitas, sleeps 5-8 and is a relaxed place to stay by the ocean. It’s a simple set-up with two bedrooms, a lounge-diner and a wrap-around deck for barbecues, sunset viewing or morning coffee. The family kitchen makes for easy catering, and there’s a farmer’s market and several supermarkets a couple of blocks away. We love the location - just a short walk from the stores and restaurants of downtown Encinitas - and the laid-back vibe, with surfboards and beach toys provided for guests. Stay and enjoy sensational sunsets, spending time at the beach and exploring one of San Diego’s most characterful cities.

What we love

  • The wrap-around deck: perfect for barbecues, morning coffee and for drying swim kit and wetsuits after a day at the beach
  • Part-lawned yard with seating and sun umbrella
  • Simple double bedroom plus a kids bedroom with double bed and bunk above it
  • Living room with L-shaped sofa, wall hung TV and dining table for 6
  • Large family kitchen for easy catering - and there’s a Whole Foods and farmer’s market nearby to help too
  • Sensational views of the ocean, palm trees and sunsets
  • Bathroom with shower and cheery floral shower curtain
  • Sun room off the kitchen
  • Surfboard hire, surf tuition, boogie boards and beach toys all available for guests

I have lived in Encinitas all my life and would never move away because everytime I travel for work or vacation, I simply can't wait to get back to Encinitas...mostly due to the great town, weather and local beaches.

We had a wonderful stay at this Encinitas cottage last week! We arrived on a Wednesday, which was fortuitous, as we were able to walk one block(!) to the lovely Encinitas Station Farmers Market (http://www.farmersmarketencinitas.com/) to stock up on gorgeous California produce for our stay. For everything else, we walked just a bit further to the local Whole Foods and any number of lovely (and kid-friendly) restaurants and breweries within easy walking distance. Encinitas is an ideal beach town for families! The house was comfortable, quiet, and well-stocked with beach essentials (toys, umbrellas, beach towels), which was great for our visits to the gorgeous, family-friendly Moonlight State Beach (http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=659). My son loved the bunk beds in the kids' room, and enjoyed kicking the soccer ball around in the front yard! The host was very helpful, and we had a great stay. Thank you!

Hip residents, yoga and secret surf spots

Sixties beach culture meets hip locals, yoga and secret surf spots at Encinitas, one of SoCal's last true surf towns. Join the families at Moonlight Beach, join the line-up at Swami's beach or seek out hidden coves and enjoy after dark bonfires, digging for sand crabs and doing a downward dog as the sun sets.
