Perks for the Parents

This stylish ground-floor apartment sleeping 2 + 1 is located in a great family-friendly area of Amsterdam and suits a couple with a baby or toddler. There is a spacious and comfortable kitchen dining area, with family table and Smeg fridge. The lounge area is geared towards relaxation, with glass windows allowing you to see the sky, and doors onto the garden. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed. We love the tub - big enough for 2 adults, or a happy kid. It is easy to explore the city on foot or by bike. An extra bed in the garden room is great for teenagers in spring, summer and fall.

Why Kids Love it

This property is fun, quiet and compact, and best suited to a younger child i.e. a toddler or baby. There is a small, safe garden out back and toys are available on request. There is seating out the back and front, and the kid’s room is quiet and can be made very dark. It has a convertable toddler bed/crib. The famous Vondelpark is 100m away, ideal for strolling with the kids, and the even larger Amsterdamse Bos is 1.5 km away. Teens will love the bed in the garden room.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 days. The apartment is on the ground floor and over 1 level. Cupboards with hazardous contents (such as detergents) have a child-lock. There is unlimited WiFi, a washing machine, clothes’ dryer, and Qooker tap providing instant boiling water. The garden gets the sun past 3pm in the afternoon.

About the Location

The apartment is in the Hoofddorppleinbuurt area of south Amsterdam. Very family-orientated, it is packed with cafés, restaurants and smaller supermarkets. Public transport to the city centre (roughly 30-40 minutes’ walk) is just around the corner and there are several bike rental agencies nearby. Amsterdam Schiphol airport is 20 minutes away by car/taxi or 30 minutes by public transport.

Accommodation Details

Set in a typical Amsterdam house, this ground floor apartment is extremely light and airy. The glass-fronted living room and garden helps make it feel spacious and natural. The master bedroom has a kingsize luxury bed, while the children’s bedroom has a toddler bed, or crib. The bathroom has a shower and tub. There is a garden at the back with a garden room with fold out 1.6x2m bed, available in spring, summer and fall only.

Style Notes

Bright, joyful and modern. The walls are white, with touches of gentle colour and plenty of art. We love the large wooden table and chairs for dining. The lounge area is very relaxing, with a sky view and plenty of cushions. There are lots of books, many in English. And for those looking for romance, there are candle holders for quiet evenings in.

Emma and me used to live on a house boat. When we were expecting a child, we moved to a 'normal' house in another fantastic area in Amsterdam. We rent out this house when we go on holiday. We love the neighbourhood, with its great restaurants, cafes and the Vondelpark just around the corner. Lourens works as Head of Technology for The Ocean Cleanup, the largest initiative to rid the oceans of plastic. Emma works as a psychologist and yoga teacher. We have a lovely baby-boy born in June 2016. Hope to meet you soon! Lourens & Emma
