Perks for the Parents

This simple hideaway on the island of Kea has countryside views and Otzias beach and a taverna just five minutes’ walk away. Secure and calm, it is a 10-minute drive from the island’s main port. It is set on an estate with 2 other houses all surrounded by 3 acres of almond and olive trees, with the family church overseeing the land. Children can explore the land, play in the tree house, picnic, try camping for an adventurous night under the stars, collect and eat almonds from the trees, shower and have fun with the hose in the garden. Extra services including transfers, babysitting and car rental can be arranged.

Why Kids Love it

Kids love the outdoor areas: they have ample space to use and explore, they can create their own adventures using the tree house and they can enjoy summer nights under the stars in a tent. The beach is so close that they can come and go all day long - you can easily walk there with a stroller or with your kids, and it is excellent for children, sandy with crystal clear waters, easy access and no steep bottom. Water toys are waiting for them at the house. A crib, high chair, baby toys and a baby bath can be provided on request.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. The house is flat and secure with no steep stairs. The other 2 properties sharing the garden are occupied by the owner and not rented privately. Car parking inside property and just next to the house making transportation easy. A small taverna is just beside the beach and 5 minutes’ walk from the house. The hosts can arrange extra before or during your stay for no extra cost including: boat trips from Lavrion to Kea (arrival and departure tickets to be paid after your arrival at the house, providing hosts are notified a week in advance), transfers from the port to the house, car rental, booking of any island activities including watersports and diving, stocking the house with supplies you need. Day and night time babysitting can be provided for a fee. Car rental availability can be limited especially during the high season.

About the Location

The residence is on Otzias Bay, a protected area of Kea. The island is rich with history and has beautiful scenery: steep mountains, small fields, olive groves, vineyards, valleys, picturesque coves, exciting hiking trails and off-the-beaten-track beaches. Bird-watching is a real delight. There are plenty of small caves to explore (like in Kalamos and in Agios Timotheos) and 36 km-long cobbled trails will lead you to the 4 city-states of the ancient times: Ioulis, Karthaia, Koressia, Poiessa. Taxi services are available at the island as well as public transportation but guests are advised come with their own car from Athens.Kea is typically reached by car ferry from Athens, taking 1.5 hours, and does not have an airport.

Accommodation Details

The property has 2 bedrooms with a king and queensize bed, plus 2 single sofas in the living room. The master bedroom can easily accommodate a crib or a single child bed for ages up to 10. One renovated bathroom with shower and a fully equipped kitchen with its own fireplace complete the layout of the house. Ample outdoor spaces allow you to enjoy the beauty of the land; there is a barbecue for dinners under the stars.

Style Notes

Classic Greek. Built a century ago and recently renovated, the house exudes the feel of old Greek hospitality. It is ideal for those who love nature and traditional Greek architecture. With bright sunny skies and blue sea all around. Otzias Bay has been characterized by the State as a place of ‘particular beauty’, permitting the area to retain its natural beauty and prevent unregulated construction. We love the fantastic location for an easy stay by the beach as a family.

Hi there, I am Aliki your host for this Kid and coe listing. I am not good at describing myself, so I will just share with you my enthusiasm for being a host and my eagerness to meet you in person! Having worked for more than 3 decades in executive management positions in the Services industry and having gained tremendous experience in customer relations and services, I have recently decided to continue on my own and engage myself in the hosting business. I believe that my long-time experience and my genuine interest in people and customer satisfaction, will allow me to offer you an unforgettable time in Kea! I adore children and I love being surrounded by them! I love smily people and firm handshakings. I love pets and I am honored to have true and valuable friends all over the wold!

Kea, Greek Islands

Tranquility, Athenian-Style

Kea is a small, quiet island in the Cyclades archipelago. Apart from the main foreign tourist circuit, yet popular among savvy Athenian families who know how to escape the crowds, this local sanctuary with its sleepy seaside fishing villages, secluded coves, and ancient ruins just might be the best kept secret in the Greek islands.
