Set on the authentic and lesser-visited island of Kythira, this beautiful whitewashed house is well set up for families with spacious living areas and views of the deep blue sea. Kythira is a quiet island reached best by boat from Athens, and is known as a hidden gem of the Ionian islands. The house has a full kitchen and family dining area, a master bedroom, separate kids bedroom and ensuite bathrooms, plus an additional guest room with bathroom and its own access ideal for grandparents, nanny or au pair.

Why Kids Love it

This is a beautiful family property surrounded by spaces to play, including a large terrace with shade for sunny days, and is a 15-minute drive from most of the island’s beaches. There is plenty of space in the house to play. A variety of cribs, a high chair and plastic dinnerware is provided. Note that no toys are provided. Children will delight in the fact that the island itself is reached by ferry. The surrounding areas is safe and family friendly; Greek food is typically a hit with children and there are family-friendly cafes in the nearby villages.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 6 nights. This property comprises a main house plus a guest house with private entrance. The house is located in a very small village at the end of a path. There are some rocky areas, steps and cacti in the garden - young toddlers may need supervision. The whole house is on 1 level, making it easy with younger children. The house is fully equipped and has a TV, DVD player, Apple tv, free WiFi, iPod dock station and housekeeping option. The house comfortably accommodates 6 guests.

About the Location

The house is in the village of Trifillianika in the north of Kythira Island. Kythira is southwest of the Laconian peninsula in the Ionian sea. There are multiple ways to reach the island - by air from Athens, Crete, Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Lefkada and Corfu; by boat from Piraeus harbor in Athens or from Crete. The house is not walking distance from a beach so car rental is advisable, and is available in the main town. The airport is a 15-minute drive away and the port is 25 minutes’ drive away. The commercial center of the island is a 10-minute walk away.

Accommodation Details

This 1-story house has a spacious living room area, a dining room, an open plan fully equipped kitchen, 2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and 1 independent guestroom with a private bathroom. All bathrooms have showers, as typical in Greece, rather than bath tubs. The courtyard and the outdoor area have a dining area and a barbeque area.

Style Notes

Modern Greek. This is a house to fall in love with - appropriate on the island of Aphrodite and Eros. It has a breathtaking view of the ocean and the Peloponnese and relaxed and luxurious interior design, with whitewashed walls, driftwood mirrors and beamed ceilings. The building has been built in line with local traditional architecture.
