Perks for the Parents

Get back to nature with a stay at this beautiful rustic cabin, nestled in the trees just a few minutes away from Lake Arrowhead. It sleeps 6. The home has been designed for the host’s own young family, so it's put together with children in mind. Kids dishes and toys are in accessible drawers so kids can be self-sufficient and make themselves at home, and the shower has a detachable handle to help wash small kids at bathtime. Parents will love cooking up a storm on the gas grill or in the recently updated kitchen, and you can escape to the quiet deck for a peaceful morning coffee.

Why Kids Love it

The house has so many books, toys, games so it’s always a big hit with kids of all ages. The hosts have items for different age ranges, from toddler books and stuffed animals to 4th grade level reading stories and games. You’ll also find games and puzzles for the whole family, as well as a Roku TV with Netflix, Disney+ and ESPN for cozy nights in together. There are plenty of large floor pillows for kids to lay and play on, as well as children’s plastic dinnerware for younger guests and a sound machine and night lights. Watch out for lots of wildlife out on the deck or explore the quiet streets around the cabin. Please note there is no high chair or pack-n-play, but there are stools in both bathrooms and the hosts can provide 2 baby gates.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. Check in is 3pm; check out is 11am. Safety notes: there are stairs leading into the home from outside and stairs inside as well, so young toddlers or crawling babies should be monitored. The outside deck has gates on all entrances / stairs that can be locked when smaller children are outside. There is a wood burning fireplace but no air conditioning: ceiling fans are installed upstairs. Lake Trail Access requires advanced notice and wristbands which can be purchased at the Arrowhead Lake Association ($10 each, per day). Parking is available for 2 cars in the front driveway. Car rental is recommended but not required. Guests should have access to a 4 wheel drive vehicle in winter and chains if snow is in the forecast. The driveway has an incline - the hosts provide wheel chocks. No pets and no smoking. Please remove your shoes to keep pine sap off the floors. For bookings of 7 days or more, you'll have access to laundry facilities (washer/dryer).

About the Location

The residence is located 5 minutes’ drive from Lake Arrowhead Village and 10 minutes from Santa's Village / SkyPark. It’s a quiet, tree-lined street and family walks are beautiful along the lanes, or you can head to Arrowhead Dock for water-front walking trails. Known as ‘The Alps’ of California, Lake Arrowhead offers opportunities for hiking, backpacking, bicycling, water and snow skiing, fishing and much more. There are also wonderful trails available through the San Bernardino county park system or you can purchase a lake pass at Lake Gregory (20 minutes’ drive). There's also lots of shopping, restaurants, activities, hikes and parks close by. Skiing and tubing at Snow Valley is only 30 minutes away. It’s 45 minutes from San Bernardino airport.

Accommodation Details

The cabin has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, set over 2 floors. You’ll find a fully updated kitchen stocked with crockery, glassware, and everything you need for cooking family meals. The hosts also provide coffee and filters, plus olive oil and spices. The open plan living space includes the kitchen, a family-sized dining space and a living room, as well as access to the large outdoor deck with a gas grill, breakfast bar and seating area. The upstairs loft features a comfortable kingsize bed and a set of bunk beds, as well as a full bathroom. The downstairs bedroom has a queensize bed and a closet stocked with hangers for guests to use during their stay, together with an adjacent bathroom. Two further tower fans are also available although the house does stay cool in warm weather due to its raised position in the trees.

Style Notes

Cozy cabin. This warm home has a boho modern feel, with a relaxed open floor plan and exposed wooden materials to maintain the classic cabin style and accentuate the traditional A-frame design. The hosts have created a very spiritual space, with crystals throughout the cabin and sage/palo santo to add to the atmosphere. We love the stainless steel finishes in the kitchen, the large antler light fixture above the living room and the alpine-inspired artwork.

Hi, I'm Terri and a few years ago my husband and I bought and personally fixed up our dream A-Frame in the woods in order to get out of the city and make outdoor adventuring memories with our young family. It doesn't hurt that it reminds me of my home on a Christmas Tree Farm in the Midwest! Today, we spend as much time up in our family cabin as possible, but we rent it out so other families can make memories too.

Lake Arrowhead, San Bernardino Mountains

Stunning scenery and cozy resorts

A haven for families, writers and other creatives, Lake Arrowhead nestles in the San Bernadino Mountains an hour and a half west of Los Angeles. The cozy mountain resort features skiing, hiking, fishing and stunning alpine scenery. Ride the paddleboat around the lake, meet wild animals at Wild Haven Ranch, or try out water skiing (or snow skiing) depending on the time of year. It's the perfect restorative break from the city, all year round.
