Why Kids Love it

The wonderful Italian garden and park with the pool offer ample of space to enjoy your holiday and for kids to run around and play. The whole property is fenced in and even though it's right in the center of the village, it is very peaceful and quiet. It is a short walk from the playground and watersports center. Whether you have teenagers wanting to explore by themselves or a little one playing in the shade of the huge camphor tree in the park, the villa is great for kids of any ages. A crib, high chair, baby toys and a baby bath can be provided on request. In terms of sleeping, the top floor is most suitable for children, and has 2 bedrooms with kingsize beds and a bathroom with a tub. Games including chess, backgammon or scrabble, plus kids games, are kept in the conservatory.

Pool towels, bath towels and bathrobes are provided, with towels replaced weekly on a Saturday. The pool is not heated. The entrance gate for the parking is on the northern side of the property next to a giant cypress tree. A remote-controlled iron gate leads onto the gravel parking area, with space for up to 3 cars. Hapimag watersports center is right by the villa, from where you can hire a pedalo, kayak or stand-up-paddle to head out on the beautiful lake. There is also a playground nearby. It is approximately 2 hours’ drive from Milan and 2-3 hours from Turin. The nearest airport is in Milan 1 hour 30 minutes away, with Zurich airport a 3-hour drive away.

Accommodation Details

This grand 6-bedroom, 4-bathroom villa is set over 3 stories and is surrounded by an Italian garden and park, with a huge terrace at the back of the property and plenty of options for lounging and eating outside. Inside, rooms include a modern kitchen, multiple cozy and light lounges, and a separate dining room. Bathrooms include showers and baths. The bedrooms are laid out with 3 on the first floor, all with kingsize beds and a shared bathroom. On the second floor there is 1 bedroom with a kingsize bed and 2 bedrooms with a full size bed each, sleeping 1 adult per room. A basement utility area has a laundry and detergents. There is an ungated swimming pool in the grounds, set away from the house. On the back of the villa, gravelled pathways covered with iron arches and rose trellis lead to a romantic gazebo and the citrus garden with bitter orange, lemon and tangerine trees.

Style Notes

Modern luxury. The villa was built in 1905 and served as the home of Angelo Orsi, the owner of “Spazzole Verbania”, a factory for all kinds of brushes. It is furnished with designer materials and furniture (Baxter, Cattelan, Twils, Gervasoni, etc.) as well as some original pieces, and is fitted with a modern kitchen and the latest appliances. The beautiful park and garden surrounding the property is populated by an old stock of trees, directly by Cannero Riviera harbor on Lake Maggiore. Great care was taken during renovations to ensure the villa stayed true to its original style and the flair of the past era was preserved. Ancient frescoes on the ceilings have been unveiled under thick paint and the different rooms are rid from stylistic inconsistencies of the 60’s and 70’s to restore them to their original beauty. We love the romance, style and grandeur of this truly original villa.

Ever since your family holidayed in Italy I had strong affinity to the country. Finally, in 2006 we bought a wonderful property in Cannero Riviera, at the Lago Maggiore. Whenever we strolled at the Lungolago in town, we noticed a stunning, but not inhabited villa amidst a large and wonderful park. Together with my son in law we decided to buy the property in 2016 and restore it in its original style, yet furnished modernly with all amenities of todays age. Being close to retirement age, I now enjoy offering this wonderful property to guests from all over the world and endeavor to make their stay as perfect and memorable as possible. Come and see for yourself!

Lake Maggiore, Piedmont

Ruined castles, island hopping and cable car trips

Italy's second largest lake has a wealth of fabulous enticements for families, from islands with ruined castles to cable car trips up mountains for views of the alps, cobbled streets, colorful markets and handbag shops. Active kids will love the Adventure Park in Baveno, and the beach in Cannobio is sandy and ideal for younger tots on a sunny day.

Our family had a great time at this beautiful spacious home. Every bedroom had a fan, so the lack of air conditioning was no problem during the hot weather we were there. Restaurants, cafes, and pastry shops were easily within walking distance and the offerings so delicious. The ferry and other recreation opportunities were super convenient. The lovely gardens, pool and numerous flowers gave our stay a relaxing, peaceful respite from the fast-paced world beyond. The staff answered all of our requests and questions quickly and satisfactorily. We look forward to returning for another family reunion in the future.
