Perks for the Parents

With a spacious backyard overlooking giant redwoods, this family property on the west coast of Lake Tahoe includes plenty for all ages. A great holiday destination whatever the weather or season, take the kids to play by the lake, paddleboard, row or hike in spring, summer and autumn, or head up the snowy slopes in winter for tubing, sledding and skiing. The house is a short walk from Sugar Pine Park for snowshoeing in winter.

Why Kids Love it

The house is kitted out for kids of all ages, with books, games and access to Netflix, Amazon and Hulu. Infants are particularly well catered for, with the house including everything from sippy cups to baby gates and pack and play. There are 2 tricycles children can use and the double garage offers plenty of space for strollers and bikes. This is a great spot for nature enthusiasts and in which to immerse the kids in the great outdoors.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. A 20% discount is available for week-long bookings - please consult the host for details. There is 1 staircase but a gate can be provided if needed. Smoking and pets not permitted. Ski resorts are a short drive away and include Alpine Meadows, 30-minutes away by car.

About the Location

Set at the end of a cul-de-sac on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, the house has very little passing traffic and is in walking distance to beautiful hiking/snowshoe trails of Sugar Pine Park. It's a 5 minute drive to the beach and to great restaurants, and about 1 hour’s drive to Reno airport. The closest town, Tahoma, is a 6-minute drive/25-minute walk away.

Accommodation Details

This 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home is set over 2 levels. The first floor offers an open kitchen and the master suite with queensize bed. Downstairs there are 2 bedrooms (1 with queensize bed, 1 with 2 fullsize beds) and a bathroom with tub and shower. The back deck overlooks giant redwood trees and a slither of the lake. There is a backyard/garden and a generous driveway for the kids to play and bike on.

Style Notes

Modern mountain home. The house has been recently refurbished, with a mountain-chic tone, and stylish rugs and fittings from stores like West Elm and Anthropologie. The kitchen has beautiful kitchenware, Le Creuset tools, and lovely drinkware, while the walls are adorned with California Art. We love the back deck, the spacious bedrooms and the great location.

Sarah was a wonderful host. The house was fully equipped with everything you might need at home, even to the sippy cups and bibs. I would rent again!! We loved being able to go on day hikes without driving anywhere.

We are so thrilled to recommend Sarah and Martin's lovely home! The house was perfectly located, thoughtfully organized, well stocked, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The area is incredibly beautiful and the house is located on a quiet street, but is close to many beaches and activities (easy to get to North and South Lake Tahoe). We also had easy access to grocery stores, cafes etc. Sarah was extremely helpful when we had questions about the house or recommendations for activities and resources in the area. In addition, our kids really enjoyed a great selection of toys and we appreciated the wonderful collection of books!! Thank you Sarah and Martin!

It's in a quiet neighborhood but located in a strategic location to explore both north and south lake Tahoe. The house was clean, spacious and modern. I would have given 5 stars overall for experience but there was no shampoo/conditioner and very few additional kitchen basics. That being said, I would recommend this place and come back again in the summer time.

Lake Tahoe, United States

Ski slopes and secret beaches

America’s best lake, where Nevada and California meet, is an escape from city living and a return to outdoors fun, surrounded by pine forests and rugged mountains. In the summer, play on the beach, go pleasure boating or take to the lake trying any number of watersports activities - scuba diving, jet skiing, waterskiing and more are on offer. Simply swimming in the clear water is the best fun. And in the winter, the ski stations nearby offer so much for families: tubing, skiing, skating and sledding, plus daycare for kids from two months old.
