On the next floor there is a spacious kitchen and living room with access to a balcony terrace with views of the lake and hilly fields. There is space to add an extra single bed and/or crib to the bedrooms. There is plenty of outside space with gardens and play areas plus a heated swimming pool.

Style Notes

Simple and classic. The gîte was created in a renovated barn and was opened in summer 2015. There is a beautiful oak floor and a very high ceiling on the first floor, and you can see the original oak beams. There is an exposed stone wall and the original oak beams in the ceiling on the ground floor. It all adds a warm and authentic feel to the residence. The many windows and sliding glass door bring in plenty of sunshine and allow for peaceful country views.

We are a Dutch family who emigrated end 2009 to the heart of France to start a mini camping with 6 Safari tents and 3 holiday houses. We have 3 children, 2 boys of 13 and 12 years old and a girl of 9 years old. We like to combine culture, to walk in nature and the beach during our holidays.

We had a wonderful time at the mas d'en haut. Willem and his wife were very friendly, the barn was really nice. The kids were happy to go in the garden, to feed the pigs and chicken, and play with the cats. There are a few things to explore nearby. I recommend to any family to go and stay there for a few days/weeks.

Limousin, France

Sunshine and birdsong

This region in the northwest part of the Massif Central is all lush valleys, quiet hills and grazing pastures, and is known for its nature and its calm. A vacation here is about the little things: being woken by sunshine and birdsong in the morning, splashing in rivers and creating divine picnics from the delicious local food. The capital of the region, Limoges, is known for its pottery and medieval buildings, but beyond that the most inspiring aspect is the countryside. Hike, ride or hire bikes for the whole family. Embark on a kayak adventure down the Dordogne. Take the kids to one of the many adventure parks with climbing trails or assault courses. Or visit the traditional family holiday attractions: water parks, zoos and farms, and enjoy the quieter pace of life.
