The 2 children's bedrooms are bright and colorful: one has a bunk bed and the other has a single bed with a white canopy. Both include plenty of toys and books for kids under 10 including dinosaurs and a play kitchen. Just across the street there is a beautiful secluded park, accessible on weekdays, and ideal for a picnic with river views. It is easy to explore the city together from this location, either by tram or on foot.

Vintage and boho. The apartment is uncluttered and bright with a focus on design, vintage furniture and Portuguese patterns. It has many windows, plants, interesting artwork and books on local crafts. Stripped pine flooring, white sheepskin rugs and white walls add calm and comfort. We love the birds on the wall in the master bedroom, the romantic canopy over the children’s bed and the playful bunk bed.

Hi! We are a family of three. Besides being a graphic designer, I also blog about slow simple living at We love nature and traveling. That's why we joined Kid&Coe, so we could share our home and city with other families while exploring the world. Welcome to our place!

We loved staying at Filipa's house which is a home.. It is a real family house, cosy, yet spacious and it has a lovely atmosphere. It is close to one of our favorite, very family friendly neigbourhoods in Lisboa: Campo de Ourique and the wonderfull Estrella Gardens in which the children always love to play. Good public transport from there (the bus in no-time to Principe Real and the famous 28 tram to Chiado or further into centre) Recommended.

We loved the airy bright apartment! Communication between us and the host was brilliant and it has everything we needed. Kitchen was a little sparse - but we self cater cause we can’t eat out - so we do use a lot in a day. Place was super clean with lots of towels and bedding and great toys for our boys (7 and 4). Other thing to bear in mind is winter visits. The flat has no central heating but has a couple of mobile heaters. We were pretty cold in the evenings, but we were made aware of this! Location is lovely really close to the trams. Also if you go with boys don’t miss the local transport museum on the way to Belem. Amazing and super cheap!

A lovely home in a lovely city, The Necessidades Residence was everything we wanted in a family city break retreat. The location was superb, a calm friendly neighbourhood close to a great park, with lovely views of the river and a quick (and cheap) uber drive from most of the places we went to, including the beach across the bridge! Our 3 year old was delighted by his bedroom, which belonged to the owner's son, and doubly excited by a second bedroom, belonging to Filipa's daughter. He spent a lot of time playing and running about the house, windows open, sun streaming in, having a brilliant time. The kitchen was great for cooking (we bought a few things, as Portuguese fare is top notch) and the rest of the house had a lovely calm atmosphere about it. Filipa was always on hand via email and whatsapp to answer every and any question we had, with a warm tone and friendly approach to hosting. We absolutely loved staying at the Necessidades Residence, we would thoroughly recommend it and will definitely return, when we visit Lisbon again!

Lisbon, Portugal

Custard-yellow trams and soulful Fado

The Portuguese capital crowns the country, lording over the land from its seven steep hills speckled with sepia-toned Moorish castles and Baroque palaces, and set against the piercing blue of the Tagus River. Get acquainted with the city on a custard-yellow tram, a cheap-as-chips joy ride for kids of all ages, rattling past all the significant sights; or ride the landmark Eiffel Tower-like Santa Justa street lift, which trundles up to the retail heaven of Chiado.
