Style Notes

Contemporary and homey. This vintage red brick rowhouse dating back to the 1890's is refreshed with a modern, spacious interior and mid-century design notes. Bright pops of color and street art by Don't Fret give the space a happy and creative atmosphere. Large windows and private garden views bring the outdoors in with lots of life and greenery. We love the peaceful outdoor space with firepit, thematic gray and yellow decor and sleek cook’s kitchen with Eames barstools.

My kids love to travel!! So far we have travelled as a family around the US and Mexico but some of my favorite destinations have been Brazil, Iceland and Albania. I have 10 y.o. twins who have studied Spanish from age 3 so we love to visit Spanish-speaking countries to practice the language. Being able to rent out my place when we are traveling helps offset the cost and makes MORE travel possible for my family. As a host, I can help you discover Chicago like a local. I worked for Time Out, publisher of international guide books and hyper-local arts and entertainment magazines, for 8 years. So my life and travel philosophy is to find the hidden and unexpected everywhere I go.

What an awesome stay at The Richmond Residence! We visited for five days with our three-year-old and this row home was the perfect home-base for our Chicago adventures—making our stay easy, effortless and fun. First of all, Cheryl, our host, was welcoming and attentive; she made sure that everything from the toddler-friendly amenities in the home (high chair, baby gate, toys, etc.) to the best neighborhood eats, parks and grocery were mapped out for us. Second, the home itself was such a delight! From morning breakfasts and evening wine-downs on the lovely backyard patio/garden to evening play time in the upstairs kid’s room with cars, books, instruments and playhouses, we enjoyed our moments here that felt like a cozy home away. The large windows for letting the natural light flood in and the curated art pieces in the home were an added bonus. And then there is the great location which made everything so easily accessible to us. We walked and used Chicago’s public transportation (even with the stroller) the entire stay—buses, L train and water taxi boats—as the home is conveniently located near the Blue Line. The location is surrounded by interesting shops, delicious eateries, charming parks and the 606 Line meaning an adventure was always only a block or two away. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Logan Square, Chicago

Boulevards, parks and hipsters

This district to the northwest of downtown Chicago is known for its wide sunny boulevards, parks and hipsters. In fact, it’s been called Chicago’s answer to Brooklyn. Head here for historical greystones, taquerias and boutiques, along with venues showing Mexican wrestling and upcoming indie bands. The L-train gives easy access to the city and it’s increasingly popular with families.
