This contemporary two-bedroom apartment within a larger complex in Maccagno on the shore of Lake Maggiore sleeps up to 4 and is ideal for a family traveling with 1 or 2 school-aged children. Within walking distance to many shops, cafés, and restaurants picturesque Maccagno, the residence is 45 minutes from Lugano and under 2 hours from Lake Como and Milan. The neutral earth tones, clean lines, and subtle artistic touches create a calming space; we love the open plan living, dining and kitchen area which has plenty of space for all the family. After a morning spent walking around the lake, parents can enjoy a hot soak in the shared outdoor Jacuzzi tub or watch the kids splash and play in the communal pool while sipping cocktails on the balcony.

I am a Mum of two children. My eldest - Ben - is 16 years old and my youngest - Lucy - is thirteen. As a family, we holiday in Italy 2-3 times a year and love the laid back, relaxed atmosphere that Italy offers us. Italians respect traditional family values and adore children as much as they love their food, which in our eyes makes it the perfect family holiday destination! When they were little we liked to holiday in the Italian Lakes in particular. Our children are now old enough to enjoy the many water sports that the area offers, but we were holidaying in the area since they were only just crawling and found that the area offered plenty for them to enjoy whatever their age. We now like to explore other areas of Italy too, our favourites being Puglia, Tuscany and Umbria as well as the Lakes region. I hope that I can help other families to find their perfect holiday in Italy.

Maccagno, Italian Lakes

Views of the Alps

On the eastern shore of Lake Maggiore, Maccagno has glamorous lakefront mansions, quiet forest fringed beaches and some great playgrounds for the kids. Don’t miss the Civico Museo Parsi Valle, an architectural delight and temple to art, or a trip to Switzerland at the other side of the lake. Take cable cars up mountains for the best views, and cruise the beautiful islands on ferries.
