We spent a week at The Sextant residence in September 2017 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were initially a little nervous having read a negative review of the property, so were extremely pleasantly surprised on arrival. The apartment was extremely clean and the host had left lovely little touches for us (swan-shaped towels and lollipops on the beds!) The location could not have been better - a stone's throw from the beach with a shaded play park right next to the property - this provided welcome shade from the sun and entertainment for our children. The host was excellent in communicating with us and made us very welcome. We were also delighted with the use of toys for the beach - floatation aids, buckets and spades etc. The only thing that would have enhanced our stay would have been access to more toys for use within the apartment, just to keep the kids entertained when we were trying to get everyone ready and out the door - we have had access to this in previous accommodation and it was greatly appreciated. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

I'm really reluctant to be critical but feel it's best to be truthful. Location wise, you can't fault this apartment - it's literally a block from the beach and right next to a lovely tree-covered park which provided much needed shade on hot hot days. The wifi worked well. However... The photos of this flat are stunning and beautiful. But in reality it wasn't particularly clean, bathrooms in particular were pretty bad-smelling when we arrived and there were no cleaning products left to attempt to rectify this. There were no amenities to speak of - nothing was well stocked - as well as hardly any toys and no handy or practical insightful, family-friendly information at all on places to eat or child-friendly days out. Style-wise, that shot of the sofa and the mirror is the nicest part of the interior. The rest isn't really styled in the way you'd expect from a Kid & Coe property. The roof terrace is filthy and not safe for children with buckets of rubble and discarded big pipes lying around and sunloungers stained with bird excrement which hasn't been cleaned - I wish I could upload pictures to show you. I'm surprised Kid & Coe haven't updated the description of this apartment to remove reference to the terrace. Please note that you are not allowed to use the hotel's pool, regardless of whether you purchase anything or not which was a major let down to us as we thought having a pool close by meant we wouldn't need to find a place with its own pool. On the upside, I can't fault Kid & Coe for responding to my urgent email after the apartment became infested with ants - the final straw - and for offering us a very generous refund. They took it so seriously they even offered to find us another place to stay, but unfortunately there was nothing left in the area. Overall, if you just want an Air BnB style place to crash and don't care about things like how clean or how pretty it looks then this would be fine. But if you want a Kid & Coe lifestyle property, with everything just perfect, and plenty of things to help when you've got little ones, this is definitely not it. Sorry.

Mallorca, Spain

Sandcastles and sunshine

One of Spain’s four sun-kissed Balearic islands, Mallorca is perfect for an easy family vacation. Popular beach resorts abound but there are hidden treasures too: golden stone hill towns, quiet beaches and olive groves, if you look hard enough. Take tots on the Palma-Soller vintage train, make sandcastles on the beach, and order kid-friendly tapas in beach bars. Pack sunscreen - you'll need it.
