Perks for the Parents

This spacious home is close to the bay and walking distance from restaurants, shops and playing fields, and has views of Alcatraz and San Francisco Bay. Families love the location, close to the recreational facilities of the Bay for beaches and hiking, and the Presidio National Park, as well as walking distance to shops, movie theaters, and the restaurants of Chestnut Street. The Marina neighborhood is safe and is filled with young families. There is easy access to downtown San Francisco and Marin County, just across the Golden Gate Bridge on the adjacent block.

Why Kids Love it

Children love the space (3200 sqft) and the access to a very special part of San Francisco. Set just across the street from Crissy Field, San Francisco Bay and the Palace of Fine Arts, there is plenty to explore in the area, along with green spaces for play. A bike path runs from the house and is flat and safe for all ages. Teenagers and older children will love the private space of the upper floor in particular. The owners have 2 parakeets that love children and that children love too. If guests would like them to stay, they require very minimal care and are happy companions.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week. The house is on 4 levels (including a garage and full laundry room on the ground floor) and does not have stair gates. The relatively vertical nature of the home layout makes it better for those without mobility issues and for young children who struggle with stairs. Young children may need extra supervision on the roof deck. Registration number: STR-0000572 (expires 07/12/2018)

About the Location

The residence is in the family-centric Marina area of central San Francisco, within minutes of downtown San Francisco in one direction and Marin County (Sausalito, Mill Valley, Tiburon) in the other. There are MUNI bus and ferry connections nearby. Parking is included for 1 or 2 cars, based on time of year. The SFO airport is approximately 30 minutes’ drive away.

Accommodation Details

This 3-bedroom, 4-bathroom waterfront home has San Francisco Bay and Alcatraz views and is set across 4 floors. At the bottom level there is a garage and full laundry room. The upper floors include 2 bedrooms with queensize beds and ensuite bathrooms, a media room on the roof deck level with a pull-out queensize sofa bed and full bathroom, and a further bedroom with a fullsize/double bed. There is also a formal lounge, a separate dining room, a kitchen, and an office space. Bathrooms include tubs and showers. The glass-railed roof deck has a fire pit and gas barbecue.

Style Notes

Historic gem. The waterfront views from this beautiful, historic and fully restored Mediterranean-styled home are something to behold. Built in 1936, the house retains the charm of the era, and is fully updated with modern conveniences (high speed WiFi, remote access, sound and video systems). Although filled with antiques and art, it is bright, comfortable and warmly inviting. The upstairs media room and roof deck is relaxed and casual. We love the waterfront views, the lavish decor and the modern roof terrace with cacti, gnomes and views of the Palace of Fine Arts and downtown.

We moved from the East Coast to San Francisco in 1997 and have never looked back. The beauty of this area and the recreational facilities make every day a joy. Marina District, San Francisco

Where the city meets the bay

In the northern part of the city where the city meets the bay, the Marina District is a quiet, green and leafy neighborhood. Joggers, kite flyers and families play on the beach and at Marina Green, in the shadow of the Golden Gate bridge. The Palace of Fine Arts and Fort Point are also nearby.
