The Wouwermanstraat Residence
Perks for the Parents
This beautiful 3-story home dates to the early 1900s and is directly behind the Museumplein in central Amsterdam. It’s a fantastic location and has inspiring modern interior design, using a palette of greys and whites and a dash of New York style - from subway signs to a wall map of the city. Light pours in through the floor to ceiling windows and there is even a wooden swing in the lounge. Close to museums and tram lines, it's a beautiful property in an easy destination for a family.
Why Kids Love it
The house is full of books and toys and is very welcoming for kids. There are 2 nursery rooms, one with a crib, and the other with a bunk bed and junior/toddler bed, plus books and toys and views of trees. The garden offers an extra space to play, and there is a playroom in the basement with kids table, play kitchen, pram and toys. The location makes it easy to explore the city without having to drive or jump on public transport - bikes are a great way to get around as a family.

About the Location
The residence is in the Museumkwartier of central Amsterdam. It is a great child-friendly area and is quiet at night. It is really close to the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum - a unique combination of being smack in the middle of things yet family friendly and quiet. The house is 15 minutes from Amsterdam Schipol airport by car/taxi or 7 minutes by train. Trams and trains in the city are highly reliable.
The home is laid out over 3 floors, with a double bedroom and large playroom in the basement. The ground floor has a kitchen, a lounge with fireplace and wooden swing, toilet and access to the garden. Upstairs, the master bedroom has a small balcony and a double bed. There are 2 nursery rooms, one with a crib, and the other with a bunk bed and junior/toddler bed. There is a study on the top floor with a printer and workspace.
European chic. If you like modern Dutch-Danish design, greys, whites and browns, this is the residence for you. There is a sleek kitchen with white crockery and pots of herbs, and the playful living space offers an area to play and relax. The garden is a great place to relax after a day in the city, with a deck, dining table, sofa and chairs and a string of fairy lights. We love the swing, the playroom and the great location - central yet quiet and family-friendly.
The city’s cultural heartland
In the south of central Amsterdam, the Museum Quarter is the city’s cultural hothouse, including the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum among its treasures. It’s super well connected by tram to the city at large and is close to the Vondelpark for tots who prefer play to paintings.
