Perks for the Parents

This lovely 3-bedroom family home has a large garden and is in a family-friendly neighborhood a 5-minute walk from Nashville's hip Riverside Village. With 1940s charm plus modern amenities and careful design, it suits families while retaining a sense of style. Set in a great location walking distance from everything you need but on a quiet, green, residential one-block street, it comes complete with yoga mats and props, record player and records, guitar and banjo, and bar cart. A daybed trundle in the living room (2 twin beds) offers flexibility for family groups. Bathrooms include 2 showers and a bath, and there is a changing table in the nursery plus crib. Nature, great coffee, vintage shopping and even outdoor movie screenings are all a short stroll away.

Why Kids Love it

For kids under 10, the residence has plenty of play space in the living area and upstairs nursery, plus children's books, blocks, toys, easel and art supplies, teepee for hideouts or storytime, and child-sized rocking chair that littles love. Two strider bikes for toddlers and up are available, as well as a wheeled wooden cart for early walkers. Bath toys and non-slip stickers make bathtime fun and safe. There is a Stokke high chair in the dining room that can adjust to fit from infant to older children. The sandbox and tree swing in the yard are always a hit, plus 2 playgrounds are a short walk away and local library and indie bookshop host frequent storytimes/singalongs for kids. For teens, there is a wall filled with books, TV and computer set up in the guestroom, with record player and records, guitar, banjo, bikes and yoga mats for loan.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 2 nights. There is driveway parking space for 2 cars (although one will be blocked in). Child-proof gates for kitchen and stairs allow kids to roam safely in living room and dining room (note that table corners are not padded). A first floor workshop that will be locked throughout your stay. A cat often lives in the home and although it is thoroughly cleaned, if you are very severely allergic the upholstery etc may bother you. The cat can remain in the house, can be relegated to the basement, or boarded elsewhere depending on guest needs. Car rental is useful but not essential. Accommodation Details

This 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom brick Cape Cod-style house has a living room with daybed and trundle, dining room, and kitchen. There is a master bedroom with double bed, a guest bedroom with TV and queensize air bed, and a kids room with a crib. There are bathrooms on the first and second floor. The basement has a laundry and storage. There is also a 3 season room, back porch, and a cozy well-lit side porch with porch swing. The front and backyards include a tree swing, sandbox and fire pit, plus plenty of space to play.

Style Notes

Mid Century Modern. The modern no-fuss design builds on the home's original mid-century aesthetic with a twist. The focus is on bohemian minimalism, with natural wood and fibers, textiles, and pops of color. The residence, built in 1940, keeps many of its original details, including windows, chandeliers, and even the old wall nook for the family phone. A working white-marble fireplace is a focus of the living room, beside original artwork, a tufted navy daybed sofa, and an antique Stickley loveseat. We love the original shiplap walls in the master bedroom, the large grassy back yard and the cozy lounge.

What a beautiful home for our family to explore Nashville! The house is clean, cute, cozy, and open. So much natural light! The location is ideal. We loved being able to walk to cute eateries, bike to wonderful trails, and hop in the car for a short ride to The gulch and downtown. I’d love to come back and think it’s the perfect home in the quiet, natural, peaceful part of Nashville!

A gem this cozy 1940´s house ! We traveled to Nashville for the first time with our 3 children and this was 15 min away from Downtown. Perfect retreat after busy daytime activities walking the streets of Music City. Beautiful deco. Thank you !

Nashville, Tennessee

Welcome to Music City

From the Musical Petting Zoo at the Country Music Hall of Fame, where kids can try out a variety of instruments, to concerts all across the city and specialized family programs, there is music wherever you go. Nashville Zoo has one of the best family play areas in the world, and among the city’s great museums, the Adventure Science Center has some great hands on programs for 3-5 year olds. There’s plenty more, including great parks and outdoor spaces, fabulous food, river attractions and theme parks to keep you busy all trip.
