Perks for the Parents

This family-focused retreat in the south of France has everything you need to keep your kids happy and yourself relaxed. With all-inclusive childcare, meals and activities in peak season plus attentive hosts ready to make your stay perfect, it’s a unique boutique family resort. Rates include regulated childcare from age 3 months and up plus a crèche, babysitting, a kids club and a Friday morning PJ party allowing you and your other half to have a lie in as children are picked up from the house in their pyjamas to have breakfast as a group. Add to that herb-filled gardens, swimming pools, tennis courts and a petting farm, plus catering and everything you could need for pre-schoolers and you can see why it’s been described as ‘heaven for families’.

Why Kids Love it

There are swimming pools, a petting farm, tennis courts, bikes and plenty of other children to make friends with and play with. All guests get daily petting farm visits, unlimited use of the crèche and kids club (fully regulated and takes babies from 3 months to kids of 12 years +) and 2 nights of babysitting included in the price for date nights. All the equipment you could need for a preschooler is included, from strollers and cribs to toys and baby baths. The experience is all: enough freedom to explore and try new things; qualified and experienced staff on hand to help; privacy and family time together in a private residence, and space to play and make new friends as well. It is also an hour’s drive to the beach and there are plenty of towns to visit nearby.

Things to Know

Rates include childcare. The estate is all-inclusive from June to mid-September, fully catered with all onsite activities included plus swimming and tennis lessons for kids, 1 spa treatment and massage per adult, wine tasting, family and adult yoga classes and 2 off-site activities per person included in the rate. All drinks and all shop items are included plus a washing and ironing service too. Outside these months, the accommodation is offered on a self-catering basis with all onsite activities, childcare and babysitting included with spa treatments, off site activities, lessons, yoga sessions, wine tasting, drinks and shop items payable separately. Daily housekeeping is included all year round; from June to mid-September it is twice daily. The peak season, July-August, is very popular and advance booking is highly recommended. There is a TV with Sky TV and a DVD player plus WiFi. The main pool remains heated in September and October. Rates are based on a family of 4. There is an additional fee of €450 per person 3 months of age or older, rising to €850 in peak season. Free tea and coffee is provided at the bar all day along with afternoon tea and cakes; also provided is an arrival shopping pack including fresh fruit and vegetables. Outside the peak summer months, there is a small shop and bar, and you can buy chef-prepared frozen meals to put in the oven so you don’t have to cook.

About the Location

The estate is in the small hamlet of Brenas, roughly an hour west of Montpellier and an hour north of Beziers. Car rental is essential - both Beziers and Montpellier airports are a 45-minute drive away. It is a rural area with the beaches of the south of France an hour’s drive away and plenty of small towns with markets and more to visit nearby. Car rental is essential. The other properties in the estate are: Chestnut Cottage, The Farmhouse, The Old Dairy No.1, The Old Dairy No.2, The Old Dairy No.3, and The Old Dairy No.4.

Accommodation Details

This apartment shares facilities with 4 apartments and another house on the estate, all part of a renovated 19th century Roquefort dairy. It is the smallest of the apartments in the dairy building, with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The master bedroom has a kingsize double, and the kids room sleeps 2 in twin beds. The bathroom has a huge marble bath that can accommodate all the family; there is also a shower. The residence has a spacious open plan kitchen-diner and lounge and a private dining terrace.

Style Notes

French fancy. The apartment is characterful and wonderfully French, with original features including exposed stone walls, original tiled and French oak floors. The bathroom has a unique square bathtub and the bedrooms are spacious with wood-beamed ceilings. We love the generous provision for young children, the welcoming hosts and the comfortable surroundings for a relaxing family vacation.
