Perks for the Parents

This tropical townhouse with a private soaking pool is a mile from the beach and is part of a complex with several pools and a yoga studio. Modern and simple, it is perfect for families who need a non-cluttered living space and easy access to the beach. The ceilings are high and windows bring in lots of natural lights. Security is a big perk: this is a gated property with security plus privacy walls and gates. During your visit you can enjoy the lush foliage on the backyard patio while taking a dip in your private plunge pool, spend your evenings dining under the covered rooftop terrace with friends, practicing yoga or reading. Or dine-in while enjoying the vibrant outdoor setting through large picture windows under a 20-foot ceiling. There are numerous walking, running and cycling trails. There is a workspace in the house and free Wi-Fi in the town home and at the onsite Wellness Center, just a short walk away.

Why Kids Love it

The residence has a few books and toys, plus beach toys, noodles, pack n’ play and a booster high chair. It is close to the beach with several pools for play and swimming. The set up makes it easy to have a child sleeping indoors while you enjoy the pools and patio. Note that there are steep and high steps to the roof deck and walkways and children will need supervision at all times. Nearby treats for children are magical: exploring cenotes and swimming with turtles in Akumal, adventuring around the ruins in Tulum and discovering delicious local food. There are plenty of beaches nearby to try. All walkways are well lit if you decide to take an evening stroll under the moon or a walk with the kids. We recommend this property for those with children aged 6 and up.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week. A 50% discount is offered for month-long stays, with larger discounts for 3+ months. The owners offer a complimentary 1-hour logistics consultation through their business WorldTowning and a discount on their Navigator package. Contact the host for more information. Note that for children under the age of 6, significant supervision will be required around the stairs to the roof deck, the walkways and the small soaking pool on the patio, neither of which are gated. We do not recommend this property for those with children under 6. The door to the patio can be closed to restrict access. Additional services include a daily maid service, private chef for served dinner or catering service, villa pre-stocking, laundry service, activities, excursions, tours and golf carts (additional fees apply). As a guest, you have access to the amenities of Gran Bahia Principe Mayan Riviera five-star resort with a beach club, casino, gym, sports courts, watersports (paddle boarding, swimming, snorkeling), shopping village (including a doctor and pharmacy), beach/pool chairs and palapas, golf club designed by Robert Trent Jones II (extra fees apply). For an additional fee, you can take part in the kids club activities, enjoy the spa services or obtain meals/all-inclusive day/night passes.

About the Location

Built as a special sanctuary to connect guests to nature and bring inner peace, the residence is in a complex close to the town of Akumal, where you can dine on local cuisine, explore cenotes, swim with sea turtles, shop and much more. Fifteen minutes away in Tulum, you can discover Mayan ruins, more cenotes and delicious food options, and 25 minutes away at Playa del Carmen, you can stroll shops, engage with local artists and merchants. There are plenty of beaches nearby. The nearest airport in Cancun, an 80-minute drive north. Shuttles and taxis are available. Car rental recommended to get the best of the destination. Airport transfers and rental cars can be arranged for an extra fee.

Accommodation Details

This modern, 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit includes a master bedroom with kingsize bed, closet space, air conditioning and doors to the backyard, plus master bathroom with walk-in shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed, plus a plush (similar to a large bean bag) that can be used for a small child to sleep on. There is a den with a sofa for 1-2 small guests. It is not a pull out, but quite comfortable and wide. There is also a kitchen, further bathroom with shower, lounge and deck with plunge pool. The condo includes access to a Wellness Center a short walk away, which has a restaurant, along with the TAO community, offering daily yoga, a gym, lap pools, terraces, massage/spa services, and lounge area. There is also a community infinity pool with a grill, tables, sun beds, and umbrellas, all surrounded by the Mayan forest with the golf course peeking through the trees.

Style Notes

Contemporary jungle. Light, bright, modern and very chic, this brand new property includes a desk for guests who want to work a bit during your time and a fully stocked kitchen for cooking at home. The open plan set up feels spacious while the tropical views are luxurious and relaxing. The kitchen is designed with stainless steel appliances, a dishwasher and new washer/dryer unit. The community features an infinity pool with a grill, tables, sun beds, and umbrellas, all surrounded by the Mayan forest with the golf course peeking through the trees. We love the combination of privacy and amenities, making a stay as a family as easy as possible, the stunning décor and the location, close to the Mexican Riviera’s most beautiful beaches yet tucked away in a quieter spot.

Hello fellow travelers. We are a worldschooling, digital nomad family currently slow-traveling the world with our two children. Our goal is to spend copious amounts of time with them, learn about this magical world and its people and create memories. So far we have been lived in Costa Rica, Ecuador and France. We are three years into this adventure with no plans to stop. We own WorldTowning which is a passion based business we started in 2017. Our goal with the biz is to teacher other families all the logistics of living in another country so they can go out and have a 3, 6 or 12 month adventure without losing their mind in the planning process. We joined Kid & Coe because we want to share our kid friendly home in Mexico with other traveling families. Happy traveling.

Sweet little pad in the jungle. My son got to know all of the birds and salamanders and iguanas hanging around. The light in this place is incredible and the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to make a formidable breakfast. Getting in and out was super easy, and the pool was a perfect end of the day chill-out. Thanks!

The apartment and the grounds were beautiful and impeccably clean. The complex and pool are great with kids. We didn't use the resort, but it's a nice option for families. Jessica was always available via email and helpful whenever we had any questions. Her instructions for arriving and checking in were clear and simple. Overall, we had a wonderful family vacation. Daily yoga classes are a major bonus.

Beaches and quiet retreats

Beyond the tourist hub of Tulum, there are plenty of relaxed retreats where you can enjoy a quiet stay near Mexico's famous beaches. A short drive can find you in Tulum, for beach life and Mayan ruins, or in Akumal, for cenotes and swimming with turtles, while further afield you can explore Mexico a little off the beaten track.
