Two separate houses with large wooden decks. The main house was renovated in 2015 with a new kitchen and bathroom; the second house was newly built in 2015. There are 5 bedrooms (3 in the main house, 2 in the other house), an open kitchen, dining space and living room. There is a great garden for playing and a Weber grill plus comfortable outdoor seating areas for each cabin.

Style Notes

Cozy and relaxing beach house style and atmosphere. Nordic colors and design. A mix of new more modern furniture, and vintage items found in flea markets. Open, friendly spaces with white-covered armchairs, plenty of pine and large windows with views of the gardens and the forests. The bathrooms are simple and monochrome with tiles; we love the outdoor spaces and the lounge area.

We (family of 4; kids were 5 & 2) had an absolutely brilliant time staying at Jael's house. It is small but really nicely designed (and my wife is an interior designer so very choosy on these things!) with a lovely little garden. It is in a super peaceful area and a close drive/long walk to some absolutely stunning (and largely empty beaches). We loved that it felt really off the beaten track but in no way isolated. Jael was super helpful - responded immediately to any queries we had - but really everything was so easy and well set up that we didn't need her. I would strongly recommend

We had a fabulous weeks staying at The Gilleleje Residence. Its a lovely house with a great garden for kids to run about in. It also has a summer house for any extra guests. The local area is really lovely, with gorgeous beaches nearby and the local village of Gilleleje has an interesting fishing port with some nice shops and cafes along the high street. There are super markets nearby, a laundrette and other interesting villages and towns to visit also. Copenhagen was easy to get to with a car. The host, Jael, was friendly, helpful and easy to contact to ask any questions. We would definetly come back, Denmark is a great place with lovely people.

Jael's house and garden is a real oasis in the most beautiful part of the world and a stunning retreat only a short drive from Copenhagen. Jael was so quick and kind in answering countless questions and offered everything we needed to make our stay really easy. We felt immediately welcome and at home especially with the wonderful basket of food; a delicious bottle of wine for the adults and ice lollies for the kids. The house is beautifully and simply furnished making family life really relaxed. Everything had been through of, we all loved the netflix and apple tv, toys and games and the outside shower was a real hit with our boys. A real haven.

The Danish Riviera

Head up the Danish coast an hour or more north of Copenhagen and you’ll find Denmark’s summer playground, with white sand beaches, clear water, fairytale castles and pretty fishing villages. Visit the Louisiana art gallery, which has great kids programming and gardens to run in; take boat trips around the coast and over to Sweden, or borrow bikes and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere.
