Perks for the Parents

This private beach house with a pool in the Costa Rican jungle is well set up for a large family group or 2 couples with children, and is spread across a main house with 2 bedrooms and a further cabina with 1 bedroom. It can sleep 9 with an additional twin bed in the loft/ mezzanine area. The beach is a 3-minute walk away. A crib, pack and play, and high chairs/booster seats are provided along with beach chairs, beach towels, and all linens. There is a complete kitchen.

Why Kids Love it

From local iguanas tap dancing on the tin roof to Coatis stepping out from the foliage to drink from the chlorine-free pool, there are unrivalled wildlife-watching opportunities to be had without leaving the house. Tidal pools at the beach capture more exotic creatures, and there is a blow hole that spurts water when the tide comes back in too. The local monkey troop regularly has babies. The kids bedroom/bunk room has room for 4 in 2 bunk beds.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 5 nights. Private chef available for very reasonable rates. There are jungle trails nearby. The cabina is only rented with the house and never separately. The house is fully air conditioned and there is an ocean breeze through it too. There are some child safety issues: the pool has no gate or fence, there is a mezzanine level in the house with open tread stairs and there is a raised walkway to the cabina. Doors to the house may open directly to the pool area.

About the Location

The residence is within a 3-minute walk from the Pacific Ocean and is at the edge of the Ostional Wildlife refuge with monkeys, birds and more to view, many without even leaving the house. The house is located at the very most northern section of Playa Pelada where the Nosara River meets the Pacific Ocean and has a large reef offshore making this the prime swimming beach in the area. While secluded, there is a large grocery store close by. Nosara's Playa Pelada is a 2-hour drive from Liberia (LIR) international airport and 4-hour drive from San Jose (SJO) international airport. Please contact the owner for help in arranging your travel plans.

Accommodation Details

This detached private beach house has 3 bedrooms (a master bedroom with a queen size bed and ensuite bathroom, second bedroom with 2 sets of bunkbeds and ensuite bathroom and third bedroom in a private cabina with a queensize bed and ensuite bathroom). All showers are walk in. There is an open plan area in the main house with a lounge, kitchen and dining area together, plus doors to the pool and garden and stairs to a small mezzanine loft area, which has a single bed.

Style Notes

The house is an original Tico style house designed for a wet tropical climate. The vaulted ceiling is a collection area for the heat and is vented by a design associated with equatorial living. We love the beach house styling, the natural wood finishes and the pool with its tiled dolphin floor. The grounds surrounding the house deserve a mention - banana and lime trees, along with plenty of other tropical fruit make it an exotic backyard.

We are a professional couple, marketing executive and airline pilot, who have travel extensivly and after many years of searching decided to settle in Nosara, Costa Rica later in life. Until then we purchased a house right on the Pacific Ocean and later even bought a second one as well.

Nosara, Nicoya Peninsula

Where the wild things meet the surf

Nosara is one of those heavenly places where surf and yoga culture, juice bars and white sand beaches collide to produce a laid-back haven. With Costa Rica’s famous nature reserves close by for day trips and farmers markets, skate parks and one-of-a-kind boutiques to visit too, there’s plenty for all the family to explore and enjoy.
