Perks for the Parents

This lovely, bright 2-story apartment in a friendly residential neighborhood steps from the Oosterpark and 10 minutes from Amsterdam city center sleeps up to 4 adults and 2 children. Tucked inside a charming, historic brick building, it is a warm and welcoming home base with rich hardwood floors, dramatic arched windows and a 19th century heritage. Hop on the tram around the corner for a quick ride to the Museum Quarter and marvel at Old Masters, or wander the nearby streets, soaking up the atmosphere.

Why Kids Love it

Beautifully set up for kids, there is a dedicated children's bedroom with a playfort/treehouse-style bunk bed sleeping 3. Up to 2 children can also sleep on the sofa bed. There is plenty provided for tots, including a stroller, travel crib, toys and a high chair, and the house is full of toys, including cars, steps, Lego, little bikes, puzzles and more. There is a play room at the back of the house and a garden. The house is easy walking distance from the Oosterpark, an organic grocery store, restaurants, bars, an excellent coffee shop, and playgrounds.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 days. Note that the residence has no TV; as is typical in Amsterdam, the stairs are steep, and they are ungated; there are 2 balconies. The nearby park has an unfenced pond so children should be supervised. Car hire is not necessary: Amsterdam has a reliable public transportation network running close to the house. It is safe and quiet at night. Clean towels, shampoo, and soap are provided. No pets.

About the Location

The residence is in a convenient location, steps from the Oosterpark and several nice cafes and pubs. It is 25 minutes to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport by car or taxi and 10 minutes to Amsterdam city center by car, taxi or tram. There is a tram stop just around the corner and the subway is only 7 minutes walk away (closest stop is Wibautstraat).

Accommodation Details

This 2-floor home includes an open plan living room, kitchen and dining area with doors to the garden with a BBQ grill for family cookouts. Style Notes

Modern Amsterdam. This fun and playful family home includes a modern kitchen with a ceramic tile backsplash, high ceilings and clean and open spared spaces. My family consist of Florian and myself Caroline. We love to travel in Italy, Spain and hopefully in the near future to South Africa and some more adventurous destinations with our 2 kids. Our kids Loukie and Nuno are 5 years and 4 years old. We like to travel a lot and love to be part of the city in stead of staying in a commercial hotel. Especially with kids not ideal. There we would like to join Kid & Coe so we can offer our place and by renting travel at the same time with Kid & Coe.

We had a fantastic weekend stay at Caroline's gorgeous home in Amsterdam. She was so flexible on the timing of our arrival and check-out, provided great information on child friendly food and activities and bike rental (of course, its Amsterdam...) and was just so friendly and welcoming before we'd even arrived we were really looking forward to staying at her place. The location is perfect, great restaurants and coffee spot around the corner. I managed a great 10k run to a nearby park and the trip into the centre (tram very close) was a doddle enabling alot of shopping and soaking up of the buzz in central Amsterdam. The house is beautifully decorated, with a conservatory with a huge amount of toys, art materials and the lounge was very comfortable, we headed back earlier than we normally would as it was so comfortable. Thank you Caroline for letting us stay at your gorgeous place, we hope to be back soon! Nic and family

We had a wonderful stay in Amsterdam in this residence. The location was ideal, near lots of restaurants and close to everything by bike. Very clean and lovely. The toys were great for our 2 year old. As was the toddler bed. The stairs are very steep and there is no gate, but we just watched our daughter very carefully and made certain her door was all the way closed at night, and it was not a problem. The little eco grocery store around the corner was wonderful to have so close. I think we went every day for snacks for our daughter and to visit the little cat who lives there. Caroline was so nice and helpful. She recommended a great babysitter, so that my husband and I could go to dinner one night. I highly recommend this listing!

We loved staying at this place which was great for our family with very nice restaurants, café’s and shops right around the corner. Close to a great park and easy access to the city. Only minor issue why it didn’t get 5 stars was that is pretty much opposite a coffee shop which had some interesting clientele which needed police intervention one evening. We were all safe inside the house so that was not the issue, however coming from Singapore it was something we needed to explain to our 5 year old. However as said we loved the place and we would definitely stay there again!

Great stay at this property in Amsterdam. Worked really for our 2 year old boy, plenty of toys to choose from in the house. Everything we needed easily findable in the property. Great location for getting around - 10 mins from everything and a lovely park on our doorstep. Some great tips also from Caroline about the local area that proved really useful. Would recommend to anyone !

My husband, daughter and I had a fantastic stay here. The location is perfect - nice restaurants literally a three minute walk away. A tram stop that goes straight into town five minutes away. Metro Station ten minutes away. And the wonderful Oosterpark right around the corner. The house itself was well set up - we had plenty of space to relax while our daughter was awake, and also once she went to sleep. The kitchen is well-stocked, and the organic grocer is just around the corner. Those hoping for a more conventional supermarket can find one across from the Metro stop. We tended to eat lunch out (when our daughter had the patience and energy to sit still!) and prepared dinner in, which suited us perfectly. The place feels very secure and is very sound proof. The open plan living with toy room near the gorgeous patio was great - lots of light and space for her to explore and still be in eye sight. The stairs are open (this was a concern for some other reviewers), but we simply told our daughter they were off limits and made sure her bedroom door was shut tight at night. She's nearly two, so of course attempted a few climbs but everything is open so it was easy to stop her. It wasn't an issue. We would happily stay here again - and would definitely recommend a family holiday in Amsterdam. It's such a lovely, relaxed, child-friendly city. We enjoyed every minute.

We had an absloutley amazing stay at the amsterdam park residence. It’s a beautiful apartment with such a cosy and warm ambience. Caroline and her husband were very welcoming and helpful hosts. The interior is decorated very attractively. They have a great place to feel at home in the big city. The garden was also very cosy and we had a great breakfast there surrounded by flowers. The location of the apartment is also very good as it is near all kind of public tranpsort, only a few hundred meters from the parc (with great playground and skateparc for our kinds) and 100 meters from a very nice organic supermarket, best coffee bar, and bakery. Overall it is a perfect stay with childeren and we highly recommend it.

We had a super time in Amsterdam, and the location of this apartment was very easy for accessing the city centre. The apartment was self contained, the only items for minor consideration were the very steep staircase and the apartment really only sleeps 2 children (not 3). A wonderful city to explore and wander around - and the host was extremely helpful with our queries, which enhanced the ease of our stay.

We enjoyed a few days in this lovely apartment. The apartment itself is true to the photos with lots of space and lovely wooden floors. We didn't manage to use the garden as it was too cold but it looked like a great space to enjoy some sunshine. I have to say the bathroom and the heated floor was particularly smart and enjoyable to use. There were lots of toys to play with downstairs although these tended to be more for children aged 2 and up rather than babies. The apartment is very well situated for the park which has a fun playground and also for the trams and buses into the city centre. We enjoyed dinner at a local restaurant, Maxwells, one evening which was really nice and very popular with locals.

The home was cozy, cute and comfortable. What we loved the most were all the great restaurants just a stone show away. Some of the best coffee we've had to date was the near by coffee shop Caroline enthusiastically recommended. We had a good stay!

We had a brilliant time staying at the Derde Oosterparkstraat residence. The apartment is stylish and comfortable, with a balcony in the main bedroom which our boys loved looking out on the street life below from. Everything we needed for our stay with a 5 year old and 2.5 year old was there - stair gates, high chair, bath seat, kids plates and cutlery, etc. Our boys especially loved having access to a whole new set of toys, with new trains, cars and tractors for them to fight over! The photos don't do the apartment justice however, as it is much more spacious than it appears. The house is in a neighbourhood with easy access to the city centre, as the public transport in Amsterdam is great. Wibautstraat metro station is 5 minutes walk away and tram routes 3, 7 and 9 all run nearby. So we were able to get a train to Amsterdam Centraal from the airport and then get to the residence on public transport - even with two kids, two rucksacks, various other bags and a buggy! While we could access all the tourist sights very easily, the Oosterpark neighbourhood isn't touristy, so we feel we got to experience the 'real' Amsterdam. At the end of the street is a great square with cafe, bars, restaurants, post office and off-licence, and there are a couple of supermarkets a short walk away. Oosterpark was literally around the corner, and although there was some renovation work going on, provided lots of space for kids to run around. So we were all set up to easily operate as 'Amsterdammers' for a week - especially with the hostesses useful top tips on the best local places for food. 'Check in' and 'check out' were organised direct with the host family via email, and the hostess was very personable and really helpful in answering questions before, and during, our stay by email and SMS. We did this holiday as a bit of a test, as we wanted to see if we could do something more interesting with the kids than a week on a beach or at a holiday park. The easy transport around Amsterdam made this completely possible - with the boys loving the city's trams, metro, trains, boats and bikes which we used to get around. We also managed to get out of the city easily. A 10 minute bus ride got us to Amstelstation, where we got a 20 minute train ride to the medieval city of Utrecht, while some hire bikes with kids seats and cycle map from tourist information (there is a big one outside Centraal Station) meant within 20 minutes we could be cycling among fields, windmills and waterways, exploring some of the beautiful towns and villages which surround the city. All in all, we can't recommend a trip to Amsterdam and a stay at the Derde Oosterparkstraat residence with small kids highly enough!

Oosterparkbuurt, Amsterdam

Vibrant and multicultural

Approximately 10 minutes from Old Town by car or taxi, Oosterparkbuurt is close to the city’s major tourist attractions but maintains an authentic, residential atmosphere. Take in a concert at the park’s bandstand, meet butterflies, penguins and elephants at Artis Royal Zoo, or search for treasures at the Dappermarkt, named one of the top 10 shopping streets in the world by National Geographic.
