Perks for the Parents

This Nordic minimalist apartment in central Oslo is just 5 minutes’ walk from the city’s beautiful parks, restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries on a quiet street with no direct traffic. There are several green parks in the neighborhood, and the area is very child friendly. It is easy to reach the heart of Oslo - just 10 minutes away by tram or bus. On summer evenings you can relax in the back yard with a window open and baby monitor on.

Why Kids Love it

The house is fully kitted out with books, toys and bikes, and is in a kid-friendly green oasis with plenty of other families nearby. The backyard is grassy and has a playground, small soccer pitch, trees to climb and berries to eat. The apartment is close enough to central Oslo for a morning day trip and afternoon nap back at home, and the dedicated children’s bedroom has bunkbeds plus options of adding a toddler bed or crib. Kids bikes and an adult bike are available, with city bikes to hire nearby.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 3 nights. Free parking can be found a couple of blocks away. The apartment is located on the second floor with stairs, but no elevator. There are enough room in the hallway for a stroller. Car rental not essential with good public transport connections nearby.

About the Location

The house is in Lindern Hageby, a quiet, green, child-friendly residential area 10 minutes by public transport from Oslo city center. It is 5 minutes’ walk from St. Hanshaugen and Bislett with its beautiful parks, cafés, restaurants, bars and shops. There are several great coffee shops, bakeries and restaurants within 5 minutes’ walking distance, and Oslo airport is 50 minutes away by car.

Accommodation Details

This 100 sq m apartment has a large bedroom with a kingsize bed and an office space, a children’s bedroom with bunk beds (1.4 m long) and an extra crib or mattress if requested. There is a living room and open kitchen area, plus a bathroom with shower only; a large, green backyard with a playground completes the space.

Style Notes

Nordic minimalist. The apartment was completely renovated to a stylish Scandinavian interior in 2011. It is bright and sophisticated, with stripped floorboards and striking lighting. In the sunny kitchen there is a view of the green backyard. We love the designer seating, the posters and the fun kids bedroom.

What a wonderful stay in Oslo at the Lindern residence! The flat was lovely — bright, clean, spacious for a family of four — and very family friendly. It had all necessary amenities and the kitchen was well fitted. We were in Olso over the American Thanksgiving holiday week, and I was even able to bake a pumpkin pie (I brought the canned pumpkin)! It was centrally located—whether it was snowing, raining or sunny (we had all three during our stay) we were able to walk to the tram or bus and take public transportation to all points of interest. Within easy walking distance were also restaurants, shops, and grocery. The area where the Lindern residence is located is charming and very safe. We loved our stay and hope to come back another time.

Oslo, Norway

Viking ships and ski jumps

Likeable Oslo is a blend of challenging modern skyscrapers and historic buildings, set at the head of a fjord with woodlands and parks within the city making it feel anything but built up and crowded. Canoe in Nordmarka forest, cruise the fjord, go cross country skiing on long trails through the woods or marvel at original Viking ships and Munch paintings in the city’s majestic museums. Try the rollercoasters at Tusenfryd Amusement Park or find out what it’s like to be a ski jumper at the Holmenkollen Ski Museum, perched on a hill overlooking the city.
