Perks for the Parents

This beautiful home with a pool in a spectacular hilltop location is well set up with equipment for young children and is between Turin and the Mediterranean coast, with ski mountains around an hour away. There is one full kitchen in open plan living room and another chef's kitchen with dining room. All rooms except one have bath tubs. The area is very family friendly and local restaurants are welcoming to children. All the local festivals and events are excellent for families.

Why Kids Love it

The house has plenty of open space inside and outside to play. There is a pool. British satellite TV is included with children’s channels. There are playgrounds in all nearby towns and beaches with play areas and children’s activities an hour away. Gelato, pizza and pasta are served everywhere. The hosts have small children and have provided plenty for parents including a high chair, travel crib and toys.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 1 week in high season (April-November) with shorter stays possible during the rest of the year. No pets. There are several steep stairs and a ungated swimming pool - parents must supervise children. There is a high chair and plenty of room for the kids to help out in the kitchen. The property is secluded and private and kids have lots of freedom to roam. Car hire is essential in this area.

About the Location

The residence is in Bonvicino, a small town in the Piedmont region, and is just over an hour south of Turin and around the same from Savona on the Mediterranean coast. The area is great for families with skiing in winter within an hour’s drive and the beach in summer in the other. Hiking, biking and horses are nearby. The closest airports are in Turin (1 hour), Nice (2 hours) and Milan (2 hours).

Accommodation Details

The villa has 7 double bedrooms, each with private bathroom. One children's bedroom has a loft with 2 additional single beds. There is a chef's kitchen, 2 private suites suitable for older children only, 2 living rooms, 1 small dining area and 1 large dining area. There is a swimming pool set apart from the villa and an outdoor traditional wood-fired brick pizza oven. The property is surrounded by 14 private acres, fruit trees and a vegetable garden.

Style Notes

The house is a renovated 400-year-old original stone villa. It has been renovated with attention to detail: modern bathrooms, new beds, comfortable sofas. The style is 'California country' - stylish and comfortable. The kitchen is ideal for chefs and food lovers. The pizza oven is an authentic outdoor brick oven. We love the pool, the views of the mountains and the spectacular hilltop setting, along with the bright sofas, and semi-open bathroom in the master suite.

Piedmont, Italy

Ski slopes, beaches and chocolate spread

This region of northern Italy, around Turin and its mountains and running as far as the Mediterranean, is bursting with family vacation ideas along with those Italian delights: world-class vineyard and superb foodie haunts. Ski the mountains in winter, play on the beaches in summer and don’t miss Alba’s famous white truffles. The kids will love the city’s other famous delicacy - Alba is the birthplace of chocolate spread Nutella.
