Style Notes

Modern antique. This early 1900s farmhouse is filled with morning light and original details, like wide pine floors and beautiful paneling. Maintained by 3 generations of the same family, the home has been refreshed for family living with a mix of modern and vintage furnishings, all chosen to work well for both adults and kids. Playful artwork is hung throughout the home, with many pieces by local artists, and the front garden is outfitted with vintage 1970s California lawn furniture. We are a family of four living just outside Portland, Maine. We love it here - the ocean and beaches, the gorgeous woods just out the door, the incredible food in Portland, and the beautiful summers. We also love to travel and explore new places. We are very interested in home exchanges, especially the West coast, NYC and Europe.

What a gem of a stay! We loved our stay at Lynsey's home and fell in love with Cape Elizabeth. So family friendly and the surrounding area was wonderful. We loved walking to the local beach, market, and ice cream shop and loved how accessible it was to Portland. Lynsey was easy to communicate with and left a wonderful list of recommendations, in which we frequented many. Highly recommend-my almost 4 year old already asked when we can go back!

Our stay on Stonybrook Road was magical (if not a bit exhausting with a 4- and 2-year-old!). We visited over the Independence Day holiday, and our weeklong stay started off by participating in the neighborhood Fourth of July parade around the "block," which was such fun. Fond memories for us will include: - the thoughtful selection of books, which kept my daughter entertained for hours, especially a Mary Poppins book - the fantastic collection of records, which provided a memorable soundtrack to our stay - Simon, the friendly family cat - the hammock, which we learned our son (with a disability that makes a lot of things hard) LOVES - the charming neighborhood and its proximity to the beach; I loved starting the day with a walk to the ocean before everyone else woke up - the lushness of the outdoor landscape and the tranquility of the inside - I made good use of a little reading nook during nap times We are now dreaming of living in Maine! Thank you to Lynsey and family for such a happy vacation!

Portland, Maine

Seafood, beaches and outdoor adventures

Fresh seafood, rocky coastlines and outdoor adventures are just some of the things waiting for you in Portland. Maine’s largest city is tucked in the south of the state and has lighthouses to visit, beaches to play on and a vibrant, creative center. Don’t miss the train ride along Casco Bay on an antique narrow gauge train, a ferry trip to Peak’s Island and Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, which hosts some lovely family play and discover sessions.
