Perks for the Parents

This spacious property with a pool, tennis court and expansive back yard is ideal for a large family getaway. Set an easy drive from New York City in a hamlet of Southampton township, it is a 15-minute drive from beautiful ocean beaches and close to wineries and farms. The pool, tennis court and backyard are visible from almost every room in the house, and it is easy to keep an eye on the kids while working in the kitchen or lounging on the covered porch. For beach days, there is a beach tent, umbrella, chairs, towels, cooler with ice packs, and beach toys. There is also a beach comber wagon to transport all your gear.

Why Kids Love it

The star of the residence is the backyard: kids can't help but run in the wide-open grassy space. The pool stays warm thanks to full sun all day in the summer. There are pool floaties, noodles, rafts and games on the pool deck. When they tire of swimming, there are outdoor yard games and children's tennis racquets available for use. The den off the kitchen has Legos, puzzles, games and toys, plus a 42” TV with Roku and the Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and PBS Kids. The kitchen is stocked with little-kid-friendly plates, cups and flatware. Ocean beaches are a short drive away for a day making sandcastles.

Things to Know

Minimum stay: 14 nights in summer; other times of the year 7 nights. The pool is fully fenced and gated and there are fences between front and backyard on either side of the house. The house is set back from the street by a large front yard and there is a long driveway. There is no stair gate. No pets allowed. There is a travel crib for sleeping and a clip-on high chair. Car rental is essential for exploring the local area but it can be accessed by public transport: the property is a mile from the nearest Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) station, and 2 miles from the nearest Hampton Jitney stop.

About the Location

The residence is in Remsenburg, a hamlet on the south shore of Eastern Suffolk County approximately 1.5 hours' drive from New York City. It is bordered by Eastport and Seatuck Creek on the west and Westhampton and the Speonk River on the east. The residence is a 7-minute drive to Main Street in Westhampton and a 15-minute drive to the beautiful ocean beaches of Dune Road. The village of Southampton, The Parrish Art Museum, and the famed wineries and farms of Long Island's North Fork are all about a half hour away by car.

Accommodation Details

This 4 bedroom family home sits on more than an acre of property. An open plan living/dining/kitchen area opens to a deck spanning the back of the house. The fenced-in backyard boasts a 50-ft pool, private tennis court, and a large grassy area. Inside, there are 2 living areas. The main living room has a wood-burning fireplace, 50” TV, and plenty of comfortable seating. There is also a small den off the kitchen with a double sofa bed. The bedrooms upstairs include: a master with kingsize bed, walk-in closet and ensuite bathroom; a second master with queensize bed and ensuite bathroom; a guest room with a queensize bed; and a children's bedroom with 2 sets of bunk beds. There is a shared family bathroom off the hall with a double vanity and a shower-tub combo.

Style Notes

Modern luxury. Bright, sunny, fun and playful, this house is decked in modern yet comfortable decor. New hardwood floors and fresh white paint allow eclectic furnishings and colorful decor to stand out. Natural materials including seagrass matting and exposed brickwork make the lounge welcoming and relaxing. The beach house feel is enhanced by the white floorboards in the kitchen and a cheeky doormat in the shape of ice creams. We love the outdoor space, the playful children’s bedroom and the dining room with views of the garden.

We rented vacation homes in the Hamptons for many years before deciding to purchase our own. We love spending time here with our family, and are excited to share it with other families.

Remsenburg, The Hamptons

Quiet living beside the beach

This little hamlet, under 10 minutes' drive from Westhampton, is a quiet community of waterfront homes and pretty cottages a short drive from ocean beaches. You're never far from the delights of sun, sand and rolling surf, but distinct from other Hamptons communities, this area is quiet and family-oriented. Buy vegetables from local farms, visit wineries and explore Moriches Bay's beaches and marina.
