Why Kids Love it

This is a spacious and playful home with great dedicated kids rooms - there’s even a little apple pod speaker in the girls room for kids to listen to their favorite tunes. The cozy living room has a selection of toys, plus a TV with streaming apps for chilled out evenings. It's a short walk from playgrounds and the local swimming pool, and there’s a great kid-friendly café nearby. The house is located on a quiet and neighbor-friendly street in the Vesturbær neighborhood of Reykjavík. The area is a highly sought-after neighborhood with great restaurants, a gourmet convenience store, the best swimming pool in Reykjavik and a great café all within a few minutes’ walk. The central downtown area is really close by (around 15 minutes’ walk) with plenty of stores, tours and world-famous sights. Head to the harbor for whale watching, visit the Saga history museum, try out the celebrated Ice Bar or discover the city’s many art museums and galleries, including the Icelandic Punk museum. There are 2 children's bedrooms: a girls room with a single bed and a pull-out extra bed and a boys room with a smaller 70cm X 160cm toddler bed. The primary bedroom has a kingsize bed. There is also 1 airbed and 1 travel crib available. The kitchen is fully equipped so you can prepare and cook easy family meals at your convenience. Style Notes

Mixed modern. The hosts here love to renovate and rejuvenate their home, and have put careful thought into all sorts of details. This 120 m2 apartment was built in 1947, with bright and modern spaces furnished with a mix of cozy stylish pieces. The kitchen has modern up-to-date appliances and there’s a great Sonos sound system that can be connected to speakers in the dining room and living room. We love the mid-century style living room furniture, the beautiful selection of modern art and the minimalist bathroom.

Reykjavík, Iceland

Meet the Vikings

Many Icelanders can trace their family history right back to the Vikings – so where better to get to know this part of ancient history? The capital of Iceland is the size of a small town anywhere else in the world, and has a patchwork of colored houses in the old town, an old harbor which runs whale watching trips and a plethora of design stores, fashion boutiques and cafés. Visit museums and art galleries, swim in the Blue Lagoon or tour the countryside nearby, marvelling at volcanic peaks, glaciers, towering waterfalls and shaggy little ponies.
