Perks for the Parents

Inspiring design throughout, from the bird-in-a-cage lights to the sumptuous beds, dining area and well equipped kitchen. Peaceful location, a short walk from Kew Gardens, which has beautiful botanical greenhouses and great kids programming, and well connected to central London too.

Why Kids Love it

Spaces are bright and playful, with lots of color and kid-centric ideas. There is a kids playroom full of toys and games, along with mini Louis Ghost chairs. There is a fully enclosed garden for playing ball games in summer. For little tots, a high chair and children’s dishes are provided. There is a playground 500m away.

Things to Know

The third bedroom can be made up as a double or a twin. A travel crib is also available. Stairs are ungated. Parking is available on the street nearby. Car hire not essential. Bathrooms have a mixture of showers and bathtubs.

About the Location

The residence is in Kew, is a green, family-friendly area with a village feel to the west of London with good connections to the city. Heathrow airport is 10 miles away. The closest train station is at Kew Gardens, a half mile away. There are plenty of grocery stores nearby and within walking distance.

Accommodation Details

Four bedroom family home with 2 double bedrooms, one bedroom with either twin beds or a double bed, and a children’s bedroom with a single bed. There is a playroom, an open-plan kitchen-diner, a separate lounge and a contemporary garden with lawn and decking. There are 4 bathrooms.

Style Notes

The decor is a true highlight - boutique items brought from around the world bring it to life, from bone-inlaid cabinets to statement lighting, clean and contemporary dining and kitchen spaces and flamingo pattern wallpaper in the upper bedroom. We love the mint-colored KitchenAid mixer in the kitchen and the light blue front door.

We are a family of 4 with a son aged 2 and daughter aged 4. We love to travel and create memories all over the world whenever we can. Our favourite places are Asia and closer to home in Pembrokeshire Wales.

We were lucky to secure a very long stay in Laura and her family's home over the summer. She took time to show us around the house as well as giving us lots of great ideas as to what to do in the area (we also got a lovely welcome pack which we enjoyed!) The house is airy, bright and so stylish. I loved cooking in the kitchen whilst being able to supervise the children playing in the garden. My two boys aged 4 & 2 enjoyed playing with the toys and reading the huge selection of books. When it rained we went on frog hunts and jumped in puddles by the river. With Kew so close we would go almost every day. And getting into London was a breeze with the tube station a shirt was away. The neighbourhood is very welcoming as well. We would definitively rent this property again. Thank you so much Laura.

We had a lovely stay over Christmas at the Forest Road residence. Laura was very helpful and accommodating and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The house is stylish and beautiful and well equipped for the whole family including the little ones. The Christmas tree and decorations were left in place, adding to the festive atmosphere and so we very much felt it was our home away from home during the holiday. I would highly recommend this residence to other families needing a base from which to explore London.

We absolutely loved our stay in the Forest Road Residence. The house and all the furnishings were beautiful. Our three kids loved all the toys and books. Location was great as it was in family friendly Kew Gardens, yet easily accessible to downtown London. Laura so very helpful with ideas for family friendly activities and restaurants. I'd move in in a heartbeat!

What can we say other than....when can we go back? Laura was such a wonderful host, she left us a beautiful welcome basket and was always only a text message away. The home is beautiful and was perfect for us and our toddler- lots of great toys, stair gates, high chairs, baby cutlery and a crib. Kew is a great area of London - lots of great local play parks and green areas. It is close to Richmond too with all the shops. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Easily accessible to central London but far enough west to feel we were in a village, this house was a magic combination of beautiful but unfussy. We didn't have to have a nervous break down when we accidentally spilled coffee on a rug (and anyway, Laura is so incredibly lovely, she was cool about it). It's a happy family and you feel that all over this very happy home. Bright colours and funky furnishings but somehow never twee...just very inspiring. We would come back here again 100%. Forest road has imprinted itself on our hearts as we imprinted ourselves on the rug.

This was our second stay at the Forest Road Residence, and it is the perfect London home away from home. Laura is so helpful, gracious and responsive, and goes over and above to make her guests feel welcome. We stayed over Christmas and she even had the tree ready for our arrival (with lovely bottles of wine that were well received!). We love this home and thanks again to its wonderful owners.

We had a wonderful time at Forest Rd, if really felt like a home away from home. Great location to explore Richmond and gorgeous Kew Gardens but we found it hard to leave the amazing house with grand kitchen and toys room. The hosts went above and beyond, see you next time we are in London!

We had such a lovely stay at Forest Rd, a true home away from home! The house is in a fabulous family friendly location but it was hard to leave the amazing kitchen and toys room. The hosts went above and beyond, if we are back in London we will stay every time!

We had an absolutely perfect stay at the Forest Road Residence. The home was inspiring on so many levels-our family of four plus nanny were so comfortable. There were so many toys and books to keep the children entertained, and the fully stocked kitchen kept my foodie husband busy. Laura was a very gracious host; she was always available to answer any questions and left very detailed descriptions for the house and things to do around the neighborhood. It was about a 10 minute walk to the subway, and about 40 minutes door to door to Central London. We fell in love with Kew and Richmond, with its playgrounds and lovely pubs and activities for the kids. We will hopefully be back soon for a visit!

We stayed here a few years ago. Apologies on the delay in the review. The location was perfect, the house was great for our family of four. Couldn't have asked for nicer accommodations. Thank you for having us on 2015.

Richmond, London

Room to breathe

Richmond is a town in its own right around 15 minutes by fast train southwest of London. Expect great shopping, friendly restaurants and a plethora of things to do with the kids, from feeding the ducks at the London Wetlands Centre nearby, exploring Kew Gardens, boating on the Thames and spotting red and fallow deer in Richmond Park.
